Sunshine SYOD


Ok got some good outside pics..... now these go to the post office and thier new homes today ....

man, those are nice!

I know there isn't much compresion to these compared to say the EGDM or the HB, but would you say that these will add a nice "bubbly sheen" kind of drive? if so, I want one...BAD!

hmmmm - not sure about the sheen ... what impressed me is the way the mids worked on Fender, Marshall AND Vox type amps, should work with any amp, even the hard to drive ones..

Sorry, I have a lack of describing things that I hear. What I meant does it put a nice prescence and sweetness in the upper mids and top end to the guitar tone. Almost like the like the opening to "Ticket to Ride" minus the 12 string. Or am I on the wrong path and thinking of a compresser

I don't know very much about compressors or what they would do.

But I hear what you mean about the sweetness and presence, like "Ticket to Ride" sans 12-string.

Yes, I think that the SYOD could be dialed in for something like that rather easily if you keep the drive setting rather low.

I'm still learning the ways of the outboard compressor, myself. Everytime I think I know what a compressor does..something comes along and shifts my paradigm.

Ah ok yes I think your talking about compression - and many compressors also drop a little bass which gives you clearer treble plus the comp/sustain ...... yes I think you want to be in the PGC line.....


PArt of the SYODs goal is to work as a second channel/predrive for the DRD or a Marsahall - so it adds a specific EQ push with a particular kind of distortion which makes the 'host' creat more of its own compression BUT it doesnt add it to its own signal --- so dynamics are maintained while the overall signal gets the compression percentage it needs to sing.....

sure thing, yeah probably one of the most educational things you can do for your ears is to spend a few hours with an EQ and a Compressor and a few drive and distortion pedals and really listen to whats what --- this becomes really valuable when you start trying to figure out what it is you want to change in a sound - sometimes you think you want more mids when what you really want is less compression - or you may think you want lmore treble when you would really prefer less bass.....
Its just a matter of taking the time to train your ears to hear whats really coming at you ---- and this is the same for guitar pickups and amps and speakers etc....

Post of the week, Donner............you should put that on TGP as well, LOL.
