NPD Model H v1

Postby hawaii121 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:27 am

I couldn't resist at the price that it was listed. Just arrived yesterday, played around with it for a bit and just love it. I agree with those that have claimed it to have a D'ish feel and vibe to it. Such a cool pedal!

Do try it at 12 Volts! You lose a bit of dynamics, but it seems to work best like that. I now even use 12 Volts on my MHvT.

I owned and borrowed about 6 different MHv1s and they were all rather different, but all had a great sound! If you have a clean amp, a Tele tuned to G, MHv1 set to low gain and you nail the Stones! :shh:

Thanks for the tip, I could completely see how it would hit that sound. I used to have a MHvt and really liked it, but will still working my way through trying different things so I sold it. Glad to have one back.

How do you like your H v1 as compared to your MHvT? I have a MHvT but it doesn't really suit my type of playing. I've been trying to find a use for it.

I really liked the MHvt, but something about the MH v1 is more my thing. With humbuckers, it can get very Bonamassa sounding, which I love. Maybe others can chime in, but I would say it has more lower mids and more gain. Really sounds very D'ish to me.

yeah i owned one for a bit. Its definitely like an untamed beast while the MHvT/4K is much more tamed on the gain side of things. The vT i had probably has as much low end as the v1 but was less gainy. I mean the vT could make some wonderful clean sounds but with the v1 that's harder to do. Like i said, the gain is much more present and less focused. Now i have the MH4K and it seems to contain less low end than my old MHvT and definitely less than the v1 (even on the lowest settings). They all seem like different pedals to me (and have different but somewhat overlapping uses)!

I always assumed the 4K and the VT were the same! Thanks for the enlightening news.
