Ok, just got a 4H from Thiscalltoarms for a 4k BeesT. This thing is dang bright and really gain-y! I've been running with the treble know at 3 or below and rarely turning up past that while my favorite spot on the gain knob is all the way off with vol and tone to taste. I wish I could get an MH were the bottom of the gain knob was in the middle.

Has anyone tried the MH4K at 12 Volts?

I did for a short bit. I felt like the bottom fell out of the tone a bit. The pedal's timbre felt more bright than I enjoy from the MH4K. I prefer it at 9V. I enjoy my old MH at 12V from time to time. The warmth is retained better at 12V than with the BF production model.

Thanks! I ask because I have had my MHvT for almost a year now and realized I never tried it at 12 Volts! It was necessary with my V1, but the Voltage change is less dramatic on the trimmer model. I think it makes it fatter, especially the plain strings, though it does seem to change/raise the resonance frequency. I am not sure that is the proper term, but I know you know what I mean.

Strangely enough I also am running my HBOD at 12 Volts I had usually ran it just below 8 Volts, but I find at 12 the plain strings don't clang and the woolly, woofy bottom end tightens up a bit. I just love BJFE You get gas and all you have to do is change the Voltage, a trimmer, pedal order or knob tweaks and you have a totally different, and still killer, pedal.

Yeah I really think that people that want even lower drive in the H without touching thier volume controls want a different pedal, probably an EGDM ...
as you drop the gain stacking in the H it loses that 'pushing big air' feel ....

oddly enough I think the tones they might want are in the Dyna RedHot as it is less saturated at lower volumes and is even mor esensitive to volume controls.

In a past review, I remember writing that the EGDM kicks tail at low gain settings. You can really get a nice, boosted, low-gain, overdrive with the low-mids manicured to suit your tastes. All you have to do is toy around with the voice and trimmer to find your desired frequency enhancement. I would have to agree with Donner, that anything lower than what the MH offers is probably in something else. The EGDM is a great starting point (and, perhaps, ending point). I really like my BBOD for lower gain stuff, and last night, I decided I like my PPF with the fuzz knob close to the minimum setting. The PPF yields a gritty, open boost ... very cool stuff there.
