Really?? Now I don't feel as bad about not having a Model R as I don't know that i have ever run my EGDM above 2 o'clock on the Dist knob.

I have tried the Zendrive SE and the Ethos and really liked the sounds, but I need a box with more gain, or a cleaner amp.

Yeah, sorry, I don't hear that at all. Model R sounds nothing like the EGDM...more like a very open version of the Dyna Red, with similar gain structure, yet unlike the DRD and especially the EGDM(which has all that wonderful characteristic compression and "blow" at higher gain settings), the Model R is very uncompressed and much smoother sounding(had all three at once), and most evidently the FEEL and response is completely different.

Absolutely that's a big factor, and that was partly what I was getting at...which speaker/cab set-up do find them to be more similar?

I had played them through a few different configurations, and it's the squish in the EG that still stood out over the R, as well as the edgier distortion at higher settings.

Yea, I definitely remember the EGDM having a lot more compression going on than the MR.

the R is quite a weird one, isn't it?

i have made it a point to try the R in a variety of different situations with different amps. when it sounds good, it can sound REALLY good. i initially was sort of iffy about the R, but the more times i have played with it, the more i like it. sometimes i like it more than the DRD....

i didn't get a voxy vibe from it -- but it DOES kinda sound a little Trainwreck-like, as far as the touch sensitivity and the distortion sound -- i like that connection!

it's a weird pedal. i have had lots of guys email me to ask if they should chase one down, and i usually tell them not too - it's too expensive, and i would hate for someone to spend $600 or more and be unhappy with the pedal. it's a research pedal, and the research continues
