so much BEEST stacking ... don't forget about other stacks

Postby rockeroo » Thu Sep 08, 2011 11:55 pm

(copied from my recent post in the BEEST mode thread)

OTHER New favorite Stack:
MHvTv2 > BBODv1

This combo blows me away. I already love the MH as my favorite high gain pedal when playing live. I am always pleased with the tone I get wherever I am at. Sliding the BBOD in before the MH allows me to drop the Drive on the MH and run the BBOD slightly hot (Volume 2:00, Tone 3:00 & Drive 1:30), pushing the MH to where it needs to be. To my ear, this stack is massive for any style of heavy rock. Then again, rolling back our little friend, the volume knob, brings the stack back down to earth.

Has anyone else tried this stack before? I am floored by it!

Cheers!

Hi Rockeroo, thanks for the great insight on some of these pedal combinations. I don't have a BBOD, yet, but I can say that I like anything stacked into my MG. My favorites at the moment are a MH v1, 2, or t into the G, and my Cornish G2 into it. The G has a great ability to make everything richer. I pretty much leave it on all the time as it is. Howver, the BBOD is on my list to get among several other items.

I should stack the EGDM into the MG. That might also rock! Perhaps I should go further and stack the BEEST into the EGDM into the MG for rich, sonic madness. Hmm... :whistle

that would be too crazy !!!

one of the most killer sounds I have even heard was running a BBOD into a real Hiwatt ....a real loud Hiwatt .....just punishingly intense and wildly pleasurable at the same time .... so I can imagine the BBOD > MH would have some amazing potential tho I have oddly enough never tried it !!!! I will soon now ....thanks!

You will certainly be blown away, Donner. It is my favorite overdrive stack to date. Let me know your thoughts once you do, I am VERY curious of your opinions. I love my BBOD. Thanks guy who sold it to me!

Cheers.

My current favourite stack is SBEQ > BF Model H > BF HB

Settings:

SBEQ - V=bit below 9:00, B=10:30, T=2:00

H - V=10:30, D=9:30, N=2:00

HB - V=3:00, D=between 9:00 and 11:00, N=bit above 9:00

I run the SBEQ with the volume under unity so it rolls off the H to clean it up for a great clean rich rhythm tone and the treble up to brighten it up a bit. The Honey Bee then gets kicked on as a dirty channel or for solos. Great sounding combo.
