BEEST mode

With the increase treble presence and gain does the pedal sound even more "open" when the nature is turned CCW? I love both my bjfe and bearfoot bee's but I always gravitate towards the CCW spectrum of the nature knob. Even if its a bit more "open" sounding w/ a touch more gain i'm sold 100%!!

The BEEST is rather open sounding (with the nature set below 11:00), but not the the point where the low-mid frequencies are out in front. The pedal is, overall, significantly brighter than other bees I have heard. Almost does not sound beeish in that regard.

I was expecting it to land somewhere between the HBOD and the MHvT. Since I play single coils only a thin pedal is the last thing I need.

The BEEST thins out with the nature above 1:00 or so. At lower nature settings, the sound is open, but not completely filled out in the lower spectrum. Perhaps it's the sparkly paint job?

Sorry, no SHOD either. I suck at pedal gathering!

Something I said earlier concerning the "trebliness" of the Beest may have gotten lost in translation:

I have never used the tone knobs on my strat SO MUCH as I have since receiving the Honey Beest. By dialing in a hot setting on the beast and using volume/tone on the guitar to fatten/clean up, you can achieve an incredible range of tones (classic, fuzzy honey bee through heavily treble boosted drive).

Have any of the other 3 gents tried this?

Im sure there will be changes and updates, and some of this may end up in another pedal/ project .... (and yes testers get free upgrades/part switches) ..... I also think it needs more gain and low mids to be a beest ..... )
This mutation shocked me as some of it sounds just like my favorite stack of EGDM > HB and some other things ..... so try it out and lets see what you hear with your rigs....

Beest arrived to me in Boston. Despite a pretty bad headache, I plugged it into a 64 Bassman with a Vox AC50 cab with treated vintage 30's, and a Squier SQ Strat with a Dimarzio Billy Corgan Bridge pickup,and Curtis Novak blade pickups in middle, and neck. Very, very pleased with this pedal. It is really surprising me. Immediately it reminded me of an old 60's 50 watt Marshall that I recently said goodbye to. Not kidding.
There is something very, very different about this Beest. I can understand comments about "missing lower mids" but there is something special going on with this pedal that makes this really not a problem for me. It is very, very amp like,very natural, which makes the "less gainy" thing completely acceptable for me. With a baby pink booster at the end of the chain you get some bass, lower mids back, if you need them. I can't crank out too loud right now, will hopefully Tomorrow, but i am assuming the amp thickening at higher volumes will make this Beest with volume cranked up REALLY COOL. More soon!

I know I certainly did not mind the equalization or the gain of the BEEST. I really enjoy the moderate level of gain on tap, and it makes things perfect for stacking -- especially stacking into a fat pedal.

I cannot wait to get home and explore. Nice to hear your thoughts (and see your SYOD collection!).

Beest is rocking my world. I am in honey moon mode, but it is really, really, really, really, really, really amp like to me.
Now playing through a 68 twin reverb, and it sounds like a brown deluxe, like "money for nothing" or something.
Got to lay off, not sure if I have an objective mind right now. Anyone else think it is super amp like?

Cliff man, that's about most of my "collection" at this point, had to sell a lot over the last 6 months for survival money.
Love what I had, and what I have left. BJFE, Bearfoot for life.
