Okay fellow BJF'aholics, I'm new at posting threads so be as shamelessly critical as possible and let's be done with it.

Compared the Zendrive at low gain and my HoneyBee each in front of the Model R and Folk Fuzz to compare the "push" of each.

Zen>>Model R

HB>>Model R

Zen>>Folk Fuzz

HB>>Folk Fuzz

I stayed with the bridge pickup on a PRS Custom 22. I'm a treble junkie so I did my best to avoid being brittle. My amp is also pretty "sterile" but, in every case, the Zendrive really increased the overall "fullness" of the sound. It was like going "stereo" with the flip of a switch. All of those lively beautiful harmonics that we have come to know and love from Bjorn were preserved but there was just way more of it. Also took a bit of the "bite" out of the Folk Fuzz. The Honey Bee provided a nice boost but it was just not as satisfying. It just didn't quite have the "flavor" that the Zen produced.

Zendrive:
Vol @ 3:00
Gain@ 9:00
Tone @1:00
Voice@1:00

Honey Bee
V@3:00
N@1:00
D@3:00

Model R
V@8:00 (small changes in this area yield huge changes in volume)
R@12:00
D@1:30

Folk Fuzz
V@9:00
T@12:30
F@3:00

One thing that really surprised me was the Zendrive in front of the Honey Bee (Zen>>HB) using the same settings as above. The Zen made the Honeybee really sweet; much more so than just increasing the gain or changing the Voice or Tone on the Zendrive. Overall, I was most pleased with the pick dynamics. Played a bit with my fingers and the HoneyBee "sweetened" the texture of that as well.

I ordered a back up Zendrive tonight. I'd like to get some back up BJF's as well but I don't think they will ever break. (and, I can't afford back ups since there are still a couple BJF pedals I'd like to get).

Great info cork,

I think you might like the LGW as an alternative to the Zen and also try the Folk Fuzz into the ZD....

Donner,

Took your advice. The FF into ZD is much better than vice versa. Left all the settings the same. It maintains the sustain but takes a little "hair" off the edge. Sounds like an "articulate fuzz", if there is such a thing.

I'm looking forward to getting a LGW in the future. To be truthful, I've had a few problems with the switch on my Zen. Sent it back once but it came back the same so I figured it was just my feet. Have never had similar problems with those same feet on my BJF pedals. Go figure!!
