Interesting discovery regarding my Pale Green Comp

I recently came across this comment from Bjorn on TGP, "The PGC began it's life as a two control model but today there is only one two knob PGC in existance as I pulled in the first ones made and added a tonecontrol as the initial reviews called for that."

Since I have a two knob PGC, it must be the one he references. I had no idea that I have the only one. I tried the three knob PGC and did not care for it because I could never get the "body" control where I was satisfied. I love the two knob as I just set the amount of compression I want and then volume to taste.

Cool! I think if you can make something work with less it is usually better.

I'd love to have a Fuzz Face wired without a fuzz knob and just run it straight up full blast all the time. I have a BYOC triangle beaver and one of the positions takes the tone control out of the circuit and the volume increase is amazing!

there is more out there. i know 2 different people that have a 2 knob PGC, but it is rare.

Yes I believe he originally made himself a comp when he needed to cover some Beatles songs and he set it up for that and it was fine with two knobs ( yes simplicity is a wonderful thing). But to make it useful to a wider range of styles and people an EQ knob was added ... Mine was a 2 knob (#006) and I thought the treble was accentuated too much as you increase the compression and the EQ knob takes care of that and maintains the balance --- the body knob was changed at one point to allow a bit of trelbe rolloff like some classic guitar comps...... the PGC body knob is one of BJs real masterieces as it does quite a bit for one EQ knob....

I think this is why I prefer the 2 knob PGC. I like the treble as-is without a separate control. The treble increase gives that jangly sound I love without becoming piercing.

yes it does have a nice little treble boost and would be useful for that

but its also nice to have the option of adjusting it
