as far as cables I have an odd solution to the cable wars situation --- I just make sure to not use too much of any one kind
They all do something - more clarity, more bottom, more dynamics etc.....
and too much of any of those things is unbalanced and 'too much' ....
So I use a few George Ls and a few old Switchcraft and a few others and if I use a coily guitar cord I use a George Ls board to amp for balance and vice versa - so I end up with a nice even 'guitar-amp' tone ....
kind of similar to not using ALL true bypass pedals or all buffered .... variety is the spice of tone
