as far as cables I have an odd solution to the cable wars situation --- I just make sure to not use too much of any one kind

They all do something - more clarity, more bottom, more dynamics etc.....

and too much of any of those things is unbalanced and 'too much' ....

So I use a few George Ls and a few old Switchcraft and a few others and if I use a coily guitar cord I use a George Ls board to amp for balance and vice versa - so I end up with a nice even 'guitar-amp' tone ....

kind of similar to not using ALL true bypass pedals or all buffered .... variety is the spice of tone 8)

How long do you gents run your cable to your amp and guitar? Is 20ft pretty common for you?

Cheers.

I think mine is 15-20 feet due to stage placement at church.

I use 15' from board to amp, but I only play large venues when I'm sleeping. :tongue I have 5m or 18' or something from guitar to board (or floor/pedal) and it gives e enough leash to move around without worrying about pulling nor too long and lose sound. I have heard that the cable from guitar is the most important as you can always use a buffer or booster to make up for losses on the way to the amp (sorta).

Yes, I did clean the pedals per the video instructions. Nothing really changed, at least, not that I noticed.

Thanks,
Jim

My old instructor was over one day and after taking a little bathroom break he wanted to plug into my rig with his guitar to try the BJFEs. I was using Evidence Audio Melody patch cables at that time and he George L. He couldn't believe his sound was so big, so he plugged into his board through my amp and the difference was night and day! He went out the next day and bought a board full of quality patch cables from a local audiophile guy.....

Thanks for the info. I just looked at the site for the Evidence Audio Melody patch cables and it would cost me over $250 to buy patch cables for all my pedals. Is it really that much of a difference? Wow, that's a lot for a bunch of short cables :phew
