Hi Donner,

I know this might be a bit late, but I would be very interested in being part of it. Count me in!

If this was the design intent (pushing an already overdriven amp) then I'll be in heaven :love4

I have always questioned the SHOD, but I put it in front of a cranked amp yesterday and WOW! It turned my Swart AST PRO into a crunchier version of itself. It normally is voiced like a brown Princeton/Gibson tweed and the SHOD gives you a firmer pick attack and at last the pedal is not too bright! :music

For mild dirt, I like the Barbershop Overdrive by Fairfield Circuitry. Between that and my KLON, my life is quite dirty.

Beyond these base tones, my BJFe drives/distortions/fuzz are bread & buttah.

I always liked the clarity and the bite of the SHOD but it never sounded good into a clean amp because it was always too bright/harsh. I had written it off a while ago because of that but you're quite right, I bet the added treble would sound good with an already ODing amp, especially one with a relatively smooth breakup as it would give it some bite and crunch. Hmmmmm  I may need to try that one again... :clown

I may be selling my CB version soon if I score a hand-wired model tonight. Yes, I am a total weiner. :wave It will be the fourth time I have bought a SHOD :joker

It works for my amps because they are both around 20 Watts and can get squishy at 3/4 volume and above. I do have 5881 Tung Sols and a 5ar4 in the Swart, so it has as much headroom as it is going to get, but at 11 it sounds huge!

I've never tried the shod but have a hand wired version coming my way on trade - you guys have me very intrigued. I really wanted something that compliments a amp that is already being driven to the point of break up. Sounds like I might be in for a treat.

Flametop SHOD? hum... I didn't know there was such a thing. For curiosity sake, I actually have been dabbling a little in different mid price-range pedals and I think I have pretty much come to the conclusion that it's a huge gamble almost every time. Meanwhile, I have never been disappointed with anything BJFE related that I have bought. I picked up a Providence SOV2 and it certainly has it's merits, but it only took me a day to know that it wasn't quite my style. When I put it up for sale, someone offered me a hand wired SHOD for trade... a different flavor that is much more to my liking.

The Model G was a GREAT amp pusher - with mine gone, I realize that it was probably the best of all amp pushers I have tried.
