Yeah we have been slapping around the possibility of maybe a low gain H that would just have the lower gain side spread out over the dial so you could get down to almost clean and have more room to explore the edgy realm, as most of the people that would use it that way would never go much past noon on drive anyway and it is really good for Americana Alt country stuff in that range too.

would it ever be possible to make that switchable? so that you could have both the low gain side, and the high gain side???

the thing that amazes me about the H (and the DRD too) is the low gain sounds, the dynamic response, and how GOOD and BIG and OPEN it sounds at gigs....

the BJFe circuits really do become amp emulators, and i can use cheap solid state amps, and still make them sound GOOD....i use a Randall RG combo solid state amp that lives in my car, cost me $99 at a pawnshop, and that amp has done many gigs.......and with a few good pedals, sounds 90% as good as the $2000 boutique amps i see other guys using


and i also have my VOX AC-15 that i have been modding and upgrading according to BJ's instructions, it is sounding better and better -- but i like it so much, i am keeping it at home and playing it for my own enjoyment and pedal demos


the Bearfoot H has really surprised me -- i like it better than the earlier BJFe version i demoed, and it's a much more versatile pedal than i thought it would be

Yeah there are lots of pedals that simulate the amps sound,,,, but not many that also simulate the feel .... thats the genius of the DRD design for me ..... same with the H and EG and HB too, its pretty easy to forget you are playing a pedal ....


Yup I also think the Hiwatt connection may actually hurt the Model H with the general public as most people have never played one and think of them as these monsters and would probably not think of a Hiwatt when they were looking for a subtle touch freindly sound maker ....

I almost think it might be better to make a different logainer based around the first third of the H pedal .....

I could go for that! It is very rare that I go above noon on the Distortion on any of my BJFEs except the HBOD (and SHOD). HOwever, I did rematch one of BobbyD's videos on the Dyna Red and noticed he runs his at 2 o'clock, so I tried that and that is definitely a sweet spot. At volume the MH's can sound too big!

I have probably played more different Model Hs than any other model of any pedal out there. All have that little extra something from the batch they were made. My current MHv1 is really big and dynamic on the bottom and mids. It also has far less string definition than the MHvT as well as possibly being more touch sensitive. The MHv1 is best into a clean amp and the MHvT works great into a distorting amp.
