ahhhh.....sea blue EQ......how i have missed you so.....

even though we are in such dire straits financially, my wife allowed me to get a sea blue (and the owner of the SBEQ was very generous and sold it to me for a lower price than he would have gotten on ebay)

the sea blue EQ is such a magical pedal for me - and it makes EVERYTHING sound better. with a piezo equipped acoustic electric guitar, the sea blue works MAGIC, takes out a lot of the "quack" from the pickup, and the bass control can tame the low end feedback.

since i am doing a lot of beta testing and gigs with the line 6 hd500 pedalboard, the sea blue EQ is my "secret weapon" that allows me to sweeten my sound and tweak the final EQ from the output of the hd500. and of course there is usually a BJFe drive pedal of some sort in the loop of the hd500

the sea blue EQ -- i love you! :pedallove

Thats a nice way to utilize that pedal :)

What are your thoughts on the hd500? Or do you even have a realistic experience going since you are sweetening the thing with the sbeq and a dirt pedal?

i havent posted in a while but had to add...

i was recently doing a project for school in garage band using amp models. tweaking and adjusting.....man, this guitar just sounds awful.....etc...then i look over at my un used pedal board...

duh! sbeq before the interface....

immediately went from" man this sounds terrible" past " ok i can live with this" and landed in, "huh, this sounds pretty good"

im thinking im bringing it to school to use with the crappy amps supplied there!

thanks bjorn! :notworthy

now, perhaps i can get a student discount for a hbod??

i have used the HD500 for MANY gigs just by itself - it is the BEST sounding modeler i have ever used, and it has sounded good in the studio as well as at gigs.

i know there are many purists who will say that it can never sounds as good as the "real thing" - and i agree - it's not EXACTLY like the real thing.

but for $499, one easy to carry piece of gear that can plug into the PA system with an XLR out, and into any full range monitor for onstage sound -- and REALLY good editing software for the computer --- the HD500 is a MUST HAVE piece of gear FOR ME.

i am a WORKING musician who has to play a LOT of gigs, and many of them are LOW STAGE VOLUME gigs, where bringing a nice tube amp and pedalboard would be a WASTE OF TIME.

the HD5oo sounds INCREDIBLE at these sorts of gigs -- the M-class effects are quite good, the 20 HD amp models are the best Line 6 has ever done, and the functionality of thye unit, ease of use, and GREAT tones make the HD500 a WINNER for any working guitarist.

but yes -- i like to use the SBEQ after it to "sweeten" the tone, and also stick a BJFe drive pedal in the loop for more organic tones. use the best of what you have for whatever gig you are doing and HAVE FUN!

Cool Bobby ! This is kind of what I used to do when I had the old original Line 6 AXSYS amp pre-BJF ( yes boys and girls once upon a time there was no BJF ! - the Horror ... the Horror  )- ... but I used the old Blue Tube on all the time to sweeten it and ran a Sparkledrive for extra dirt ..... the rest of the effects and the clean tones are wonderful but digital dirt never quite cuts it for me .... its usually when you have to use the full range speakers theres never enough mids to make it grunt.....

we once talked about making a sort of BJF 'direct box' with an expanded SBEQ, a limiter and XLR jacks etc. for bass players , for recording/modeling stuff ...hmmmmm
