Anyone care to share their favorite settings on the Model G?

If anyone has one of these and a Honey Bee or Beest it would be really interesting to see/hear a side by side comparison.

Its not so much like the Beest - in fact in a way it has even less dirt than the Bee - but its different, especially with stouter pickups..... like Gibsons and Supros have similarities and differences --- Gibsons dont break up very easy and in a way the G is almost like a tube EQ warming and fattening before it finally gives up some dirt --- and I dig it the most now going into the PGC, so you get the sustain all the time and the dynamic dirt on demand.

And I almost think this is what the people that want a Model H with less dirt would enjoy. Makes sense the G before the H

Well that's good news then. I should have a Model G on it's way to me soon(ish) and while I really liked the Model H it was just too much gain for me even at the minimum.

I always loved the G most when playing with an amp on the verge of break up. I was playing with some guys last summer who did a Petty cover or two and you could easily get his kind of tone out of the G. I mostly left the gain CCW of noon, same for the C knob. If I remember correctly, CW on the C tended to coax more gain out of the G.

So, what are the knobs on the G and what do they do? How much range does it have? How much gain? Are there any non-gold ones?

You can find some photos and YouTube stuff around - knobs V C N D

Volume, "C" , Nature, Drive

To my ears the "C" knob is kind of a contour thing shifting the mids. By some reports it was to control "quack" you might hear from a Celestion speaker, by other reports it simulates moving a mic across the speaker - tighter towards the center, looser towards the edge.

Wonderful pedal, I'll track down another at some point.

U know, when things got down financially I sold a bunch of my pedals but kept the G and the CHII, two pedals I knew i couldn't replace. Love them both and luckily have been able to make new additions to my collection!

I am VERY much this way about my Model R and my BBOD. I'm seriously considering selling my SS3 and hunting down another G...

I really want to try this pedal but it's out of my reach at this point in time. We need to start a bribery fund to get Donner to add it to the Bearfoot line.

Non sequential bills Donner. It can all be yours. :shh:
