BPB Buffer

For those who've tried the BPB or HBOD Deluxe, what are your thoughts on the buffer? I haven't liked any buffers I've used with my rig yet and didn't really think about the fact that the HBOD Dlx had a buffer in it when plugging it in today but I really like the clarity it adds. Not a major change in tone mind you, just a slight clarity that wasn't there before. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I have the Ruby Red at the end of my chain for the very same reason. The buffer kicks ass! I only use the pedal to bump the volume & brightness on my T-Bone's neck pickup. I'd LOVE to have a SBEQ made with a switchable buffer!! Paging Donner at BearFoot!

TO me a SBEQ makes sense to have at the end or near the end of a chain (hell anywhere, but play along) and having a great switchable buffer would allow you to add eq anywhere and buffer it or not.

I was thinking the same thing! Put that buffer in the SBEQ!!!

I have not tried the BPB, but if the buffer is similar to the one in the Ruby Red, then it is of high quality. My Ruby Red is at the end of my board with the buffer always on cause it recuperates the highs that i loose in my long chain.

I would also love if my SBEQ had a buffer, as i would free some space and take the Ruby Red out of my board. Don’t get me wrong, i love the Ruby Red, as an od, boost and treble booster. However, i find myself using it mainly for the buffer and as a slight booster.

I was wondering if it would be possible to install a B-Buff in my SBEQ. And if so, would this change the tone of my SBEQ? Has anybody tried this? The B-Buff is a buffer with a boost trim pot made by Barber Electronics. They claim it can be installed in almost any pedal and it goes in the place of the battery. You can check more out here

That is a crazy buffer! But, it is a booster as well.

I would wonder if an 18 Volt buffer, similar to this1smyne or T1M), could be put in the battery space of the SBEQ? I didn't know if this can be done due to the gooping.

For the record and not to bash T1M but I found much better results with the BPB buffer than with a T1M buffer I have.

Yes the B-Buff is a bit crazy. hehehehe

I don’t know much about buffers, but Barber mentions "The B-Buff runs off 9vdc, then converts to 25vdc”. Would this damage and/or change the tonal characteristics of the SBEQ?

I was not aware of the T1M buffers. Just looked them up and look pretty cool.

My trouble is space. I am now doing what Donner suggests and am running the Compressor > Dirt > SBEQ > RRB. Where the COmp and SBEQ are on much of the time and through my Vic 5e3 just the two together sound amazing. I usually use the RRB as a combo treble booster (knob around noon) and run the Master afternoon and the booster in the morning (around 9 to noon) :)

The buffer is o good and it handles 12 Volts, but I need to add a delay and if you look below it will knock out the space the HBOD and SBEQ occupy. I like the 70 on the board due to it working best after the Vibe, but it might have to go along with the DRD. For a stack in a box sound I still prefer the Model H and HvT.

It would be so nice to have that buffer in a SBEQ!!
