Model R looks like a seriously interesting pedal. I guess i'll have to splurge for one one of these days!!

Yes it is EQ'd perfect for my setup. It's kind of weird because the MH v1 had a lot of low mids, but was to overbearing for my setup. The MR just sits perfect.

I am not sure I understand what the Resonance knob does

Anyone care to post more samples/videos of the MR in action ????

I know Bobby D just did an R demo that is up on TGP. It sounds KILLER in that demo. I think he was playing a Reverend with a Tele bridge pickup.

yeah...it's such an enigmatic pedal. this time, i was having a lot of fun with LOW GAIN tones, and dialing in these warm distortions that just sounded GREAT!

i really need to try some of those settings at GIG volume.

i will be doing some comparison video demos with DRD and Model R soon

Would LOVE to hear that MR DRD demo!!!! DRD and MR head to head should be very interesting. I don't thing they cover the same ground at all actually. But then again, I don't have either!

The Model R was actually the official beginning of the BJFe Customshop in '06 ....
BJ made the first one to work with my amp of choice then which was a Princeton Reverb w/ a 12" Greenback which I was bringing to a trade show that we where both at - actually the first time I met him face to face ... the pedal didnt even have a name, just letters under the knobs (if Mike could take a pick)

It became the model R this day .... this is Bjorn and Tomo at my booth with me behind the camera ( the other voice is Andy Fuchs) and Tomo is playing the same 1st Model R thru that princeton and BJ is explaining a few things in his way .......

the R control adjusts the resonance and is dependant on the guitar its paired with and the R control adjusts the over all capacitance to get the mids just right .... and it is effected by anything in between the guitar and pedal like buffers etc..... so yes if you had a bad buffer mismatch in front of the R it could suck bad
to me the closest thing I found was if the EGDM controls all went to 13

One reason the R was a custom shop model is there are only enough parts for about 100 total ..... so it is a unique pedal and I still love it for many things.

(oh the paint job is to look like a pirate (RRRRRRR) gone wild slashing his sword and ~ etc.... and goes with the first one that Mike has with solid bottom)

Hey Donner,

The letters under the 3 knobs read VRD, I am not sure if that is what you are referring to? There was also some writing where the battery is that looks like: HSR DIS

I really do not want to send this pedal back to you but I know I must. The pedal is so big and rich sounding, it works perfectly with my setup. It stacks well with all my pedals. Don't even get me started on the MG.

So, you would recommend running the R pre-buffer then? Right now I have a T1M buffer at the front of the chain and then the Model R is the 2nd-to-last OD pedal (right before the Honeybee). I could put the R first I guess, but I really like setting it to medium gain (around 10 O'Clock) and then driving it with the RRB.

I guess I should pull it back off the board and see if the R knob is working differently without the buffer.
