Thanks!

I've been a high end gear junkie for a while now, but this is the first time I'm having trouble getting a hold of something I want really badly. They seem like amazing pedals.

I've been on both of those waiting lists for a few days now, if either of them comes up soon I will be so happy :)

The trouble is, if you are too far down the list to get one it could be next winter until you get one from the Master :bjorn

I only recently got on the PGC list, so I doubt I will get one. :boohoo

thesjkexperience wrote:Now that the BLudotone is going back home the 1x12 combos sound so SO bright! I am actually preferring less treble on the board. I did put the Ruby Red, with buffer on, in a few places and I dont think I am using long enough cables or any crappy pedals the suck highs.

I bought a new set of new production Tung-Sols as that is what I had been using. Ice-pick city! They sound brighter and harder than the JJ 6V6s I use for a change of pace. So, I put the old TS in there and things are better, but they do have the swirling hiss now and again.

I need to find a warmer preamp tube for the front end, but most of the warm ones have too wide a gap and are microphonic in the Swart as it shakes so much. That is why I dont put the good NOS tubes because the amp is pretty hard on them.

What about speakers ? Ive come to favor the Greenback type speakers EQ and compression overall......
I also like 5751s in the first preamp stage...... and when all else fails for brightness taming .... COILY CORD to the rescue !!!

Yupper ---- compression is usually the last thing people consider - but its really the most importatn in many ways as it controls the 'feel' of your rig --- too much or too little compression can totally change your interaction with your equipment.....

oh yeah tubes and speakers are everything !!! thats the core of your voice.

I dont have a 5751 handy, but I did put a 12ay7 in and that was interesting. But, I need a mid heavy tube and all I have are old RCA (bright) and Tung-Sol (top and bottom). I am thinking of calling my NOS tube guy and getting some tubes that will work better for the amp, but for some reason this amp doesn't respond to fancy tubes the way my Tweed 5e3 Deluxe does. My current production Tung Sol 6v6s are making funny noises and the new ones I bought are terrible!

I was looking at speakers as well and was sad to see that the Celestion Greenbacks are now made in China :greensad But, I guess there are a lot of USA made copies you can buy fully broken in which might suit me (and my neighbors) better. Currently I have the Celestion G12H30 55hz made in England speaker. Maybe I just need a tubescreamer :lolno:

I do have to wonder if it is just me and the huge amount of stress lately as my rig sounds very different every time I plug in. I have spent the little time I have to play trying to fix my board and amp/tubes and I need to just play despite the sound.

It also has me thinking about smaller amps verses larger amps as I played a Mesa Boogie MKIIB for 25 years and I I am used to having the big iron pushing back and the extra bass. I also missed out on a Swart SST 30 that went for a little more than my AST PRO went for! The main reason I sold the Boogie was I couldn't lift it safely anymore.

I am getting used to the Forest Green! The funny thing is I thought I would be using the sustain mode the most, but I find it rather bright at volume. However, I need sustain most at lower volumes and the brightness is just right and the fullness of the compression is just right at loud volumes.

I do notice a great increase in sustain using the compressor side of the Forest Green where I could never notice an increase in sustain using the Pine Green. Did I have a bad unit, or are the compression features/action different for both pedals?
