Damn you Oprah! Damn you all to Hell! errr Sorry for the Heston moment :joker

I did get the FGC CB today, but didn't get much time with it. I have it at the end of the chain and I took everything off of the board last night as I think a cable was not working right. Now it is nothing but 6 BJFEs and 2 Mad Professors.

I was trying the FGC without the instructions and was using the sustain function all wrong. It will be interesting to try it in front of the chain with the sustain function. But, I can tell already it is different than the PGC I had which means nothing since I wasn't using that where it might do the most good.

I am here to feed the frenzy  My new PGC arrived today as did a Gold Klon I picked up off TGP. Both were pedals I regretted selling in the last 3 months. After playing around with them, the PGC is a definite keeper and sounds even better with the english gent pedals. The Klon, however, is a Klon and is an amazing clean boost, but is a bit redundant with the SS3, I didn't expect that. Side by side, the PGC has more to offer my line up. Anybody need a Gold Klon??

Disclaimer, I am not saying the PGC is a replacement or substitute for the Klon, just that the SS3 and the Klon are very similar as clean boosts. If I didn't have the SS3, the Klon would stay.

Donner, did you just get the PGC from a retailer or through another source? I am on the list for one which means it could be a l-o-n-g wait for a new one.

I have been playing with the FGC CB at attenuator volumes and am really liking it and having two modes is really useful as well. SO far I like it at 12 Volts, but tomorrow I hope to have some time to play at volume and really decide if I really like the FGC. I do greatly prefer it to the Ruby Red that I was using for a similar function and I prefer the Swart Atomic Boost for boosting pedals, so my SBEQ is just before the compressor.

The strangest thing happened with the SBEQ. I was having problems with thin tone. I was running the SBEQ at the front of dirt, but when I moved it to the end the tone got thicker. It isnt even on! I went back and forth with this and the same cables were used, but the sound is thicker. :confused2 What is weird now is with the FGC at the end I dont need the SBEQ at the end. I cant use the Swart on the board since it is battery only though I did see a notch cut, so I guess I could use that funky battery adapter....

I just wish I had a PGC to do a head to head with the FGC. I also wonder if there is any difference between the hand built and the CB.

Oh mines the original Pale Green #006 - it was actually the original 2 knob version, I asked for some EQ balancing ~ 3rd knob was bjorn  ....

I beleive Bjorn will be making a batch so take heart oh ye listers ....

I also beleive Bjorn tried to get the FGC even closer to the PGC sound when working on the CB version board...it has the fourth knob rather than the toggle...

sj do you have some buffering/impedance issues that would be causing that change ??

None. I have some buffer killer gnome under my board that has killed two and now I have none. Late at night I will add a Ruby Red (off the board) to add brightness and to push the signal a little harder for an attenuated amp. I was actually getting better results last night with out the Ruby Red and using the FGC Tone control where needed, but I mostly have it at noon.

I was hoping to play for a few hours today at volume to test it out, but my twin girl is sick and they aren't going to school :banghead (I have been watching them since 12:20 pm Sunday and we have been shut in by the cold the last two days, so I am about to kill myself)

Fatherhood is fun innit ?

we could use a parenting buffer sometimes --- Little ruby red riding hood is a nice story to entertain the younguns

I was just wondering if yo u needed a buffer at the front of your chain to help with any treble cut from impedance loading ....

do you have any good ole boss or ibanez pedals to try just putting them in the chain to see if that equalizes it ?

I got mine on a trade for the ALF, doh! Such a wonderful thing to have it home again!

Now that the BLudotone is going back home the 1x12 combos sound so SO bright! I am actually preferring less treble on the board. I did put the Ruby Red, with buffer on, in a few places and I dont think I am using long enough cables or any crappy pedals the suck highs.

I bought a new set of new production Tung-Sols as that is what I had been using. Ice-pick city! They sound brighter and harder than the JJ 6V6s I use for a change of pace. So, I put the old TS in there and things are better, but they do have the swirling hiss now and again.

I need to find a warmer preamp tube for the front end, but most of the warm ones have too wide a gap and are microphonic in the Swart as it shakes so much. That is why I dont put the good NOS tubes because the amp is pretty hard on them.

I'm one of the BJFE newbies after one. I have a pretty nice board, but never got into BJFe stuff mostly because I've never actually seen or heard one in real life.

I've been thinking about putting a comp back on my board, found an incredible video comparing bypassed signal with the Pine Green Compressor and fell in love.

So if anyone is up for parting with theirs at a reasonable price...

Also been really impressed with what I've heard from the honey bee, so trying to pick one up as well.

:evil welcome to the dark road we walk... Those would be two very good starts, you can email thesegoto11 and or customsounds and get on the list for a PGC. If Donner is hinting at a batch, it's a good bet it will not be too long :D
