Model H

Postby thesjkexperience » Fri Jan 07, 2011 10:16 pm

If I were to get on a wait list for a Model H: 1) Can I even get one? 2) What would I get? 3) How much does it cost?

Thanks!

I wasnt around this summer when V2 was introduced and thought I might prefer that to my Dyna Red. I use my MH more than most of the others and it would be nice to have a second flavor of it. V1 KILLS with a Tele! :notworthy

How does the new V2 & MHt compare to the Dyna Red?

whats lacking in the DRD for you ?
the mids especially and the EQ in general are the big differences between V1 and V2 ....

Of all the BJFE pedals I have tried the Dyna Red sounds a little like a distortion box, or maybe I am sick of that general Marshall sound.

I did change a few things on my amp/tubes and everything sounds better now, but I would still like to try something else. It is just I dont know what! The few times I have tried other pedal makers it has been a serious let-down, so I am hesitant to try anything else, but the catalinbread SFT looks interesting.

I did buy Bill's Ruby Red Booster for shits and giggles, so who knows how that will go. I thought if nothing else it will be nice at night with the attenuator on and I could use a buffer as well.

ok then if you want a different EQ then yes you would likely enjoy having both H versions ...
you might also try the EGD or one of the Yellows to perk your ears

I have a EGDM and love it, but never see any of the yellows for sale.

I have turned the Drive up to 1am/pm on the DRD and it is working better. I got on the list for a Model H and so I wait. I was also thinking a Honeybee deluxe might be a good change.

It will say V2 on it if it is version 2 and a VT on it for the trimmer model. Otherwise you have version 1!

The MH is one of the easiest pedals to get a handle on. I like running around 9 to 11 on the drive at 12 Volts. That way you get a nice touch/sag.

not necessarily. The greyish colored MH are V1. Most V2s are black-boxed, a plain black, not a donnerbox. Mind you some of the earlier black-boxed are in-betweens the V1 and V2 from what I understand. I remember reading a thread about it somewhere. If you have a black box its probably a V2, a greyish box is a V1 for sure.

Thanks, I was only going by the one V2 I saw that said V2 on it, but I know serial number 70 and above is version 2.

I have the gray H box V1 and the sparkly MHT, so I have wanted to try the version 2. But, I suspect it cant get any better than MHT! :notworthy

As far as I have heard the v2 and vt are the same with the added trimmer on the vt. Other than that they should sound the same so the v2 sounds are in the vt box with some tweaking of the internal trimmer. I had both the v2 and vt (although at different times) and I would say they seemed the same to me. I also had a v1 a while before and it was quite different.

Good luck on your search :glasses
