I have played with the pedal for an hour.

So far I think it has less of the low mid thing out of the two previous versions. The treble trimmer isn't as effective as I was hoping it to be. The overdrive seems to be comparable to the v2 however it is smoother and appears to be a little more compressed. As I remember the v2 was kind of raspy of the higher gain settings this one isn't.

The pedal is very touch sensitive more so than I remember the two previous versions and definetly has the amp like quality. It doesn't sound as big as the v2, but that is probably because it has less low mids.

I don't remember the actual serial number, but it was the Black case and had v2 on the box. The previous MH I had was a transparent grey.

I really got to lay into mine last night and really dug it .
But I will say the H seems to be the most Guitar dependant one in memory ---
I love V 1 with strats as it has more chunkier mids
and I love the Ht with the P90s and mini hums as the guitar fills in the mids ...

this gives the 2 versions a different sound and feel (duh)


this current version reminds me again of my initial thoughts on the tone control seeming more like moving the mic during recording than a treble control..... it more changes the impact of the sound than any particular frequency ....... the internal trimmer really helps to get just the right focus on the speaker --- not a huge variable, but a useful one....

It also seems to have some Voxy feel to it on the higher distortion settings - I was nailing a Doug Pettibone /Lucinda Live tone that is just a living blast to play.

Two killer stacks: MHt > AWF = huge sound with more than enough sustain. MHT > HB = lots of sustain while still retaining a lot of picking dynamics.


I am interested in hearing some other impressions.

Got an hour in with the MHt yesterday and here are my brief initial impressions:

> It's really bright, no "too heavy in the lows to mids" as some reported with the V1s. In fact, it maybe almost too bright; anything beyond noon was almost unbearable and I found 10 - 10:30 to be right for me. I was using a Strat with a Fenderish amp, so people with other set-ups might not have the same experience/impression as I. Also, I just wanted to focus on tweaking knobs in the standard setting in which it came to begin, so I did not/have not experimented with the internal treble trimmer, which might make this better. That all being stated, I still got a lot of tones that pleased me, I just didn't find much of the tone control range to be in the "useable" zone.

> Reviews I had read about the earlier versions mostly talk about how great this pedal is cranked out for raw rock tones and, yes, I did find it was pretty awesome at producing such sounds, too (though it did not seem to sound quite as thick and grindy as others have described their V1s - that's the difference between the two versions of the circuit design I would assume; this one was smoother, cleaner, thinner sounding than what I imagined the V1s sound like, based on the reviews I had read). What surprised and, so far, has impressed me most about the pedal is how great it sounds with the drive and the volume on my guitar rolled back for subtler applications, like warm OD tones with a hint of bite. This beauty ain't no one trick pony; it's good for more than just full throttle rock!

> Again, I wanted to check it out pretty much straight on my initial trial run, so I did not try a lot of stacking, but I agree with mikepick that it sounds great going into a HBOD and a fuzz (sorry, I don't have an ALF to use, but it did sound great with my Sunlion!) in the little I tried those together. I loved the rootsy, swampy sounds I was getting with the drive and guitar volume backed off while running it into a MGMV and a hint of reverb from my amp!

More time to experiment in greater detail today and I'll report back with more later!
