TOP Question

Postby Bostriffer » Fri Oct 29, 2010 1:42 am

Just bought my second Mp pedal, The first one was a SHOD, love it, nailed to my board now.
But the TOP was a dissapointment, it cuts bass !?
Anyone else who experienced this ?
Something wrong with it, or what ?

Hi there bostriffer,

I haven't tried the TOP, but own a ton of phasers and they all work that way, as to cutting and boosting both bass and treble frequencies. Nature of the beast I say and always plug phasers into a good clean booster or an overdrive'd pedal/amp - all depending on what sound to get :music

The volume/bass drop in phasers can in some cases be only a 'perceived' volume drop, especially when playing into a very clean amplifier, and at lower volumes. Have you tried the TOP into the SHOD, or the TOP into a overdriven tube amp?

Just my two cents, I'm sure other will also pop their head in here and give some gospel :coffeenews

Cheers,
-Idar

yup I like phasers in front of my dirt to just wiggle my solos a bit.....
and thats more what the TOP was designed to do ....

try setting the mix at noon pointing at the dot, that should be almost clean/no modualtion and then slowly move it out - to one side is phase and the other is vibe

Lots of mixed reviews on the TOP. I had one and really liked it, but sold it after getting a mgmv. At times I still miss it. It takes a bit to figure out and definitely sounded best to me before your drive pedals. Don't give up on it yet. I've owned a lot of vibe and phaser pedals and the TOP was capable of emulating or surpasing almost all of them with some tweaking.
