Cliffhanger II needs to be in the new MP "CB" line....

Postby Bobby D » Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:27 pm

Mad Professor pedals are pretty well known and loved by the guitarists in 30s/40s age bracket.

mostly more blues/jazz based guys, alternative rock, etc.

the CLIFFHANGER II is one of the BEST high gain distortion pedals I have ever heard IN MY LIFE, and also sounds GREAT with downtuned styles, probably would rip with 7 string guitars, and could be a BREAKTHRU pedal to get the attention of the younger players in their 20s.

just a suggestion.....i know the CH II is still a research pedal. But I think Mad Professor line NEEDS a super high gain pedal that is not the MRD - 80s based rock -- but something MODERN........and the CH II is the ONE :pedallove :pedallove :pedallove

Yes I really agree - the CHII is really all the distortion you need past the DRD - its also an excellent stacker on lower dist settings --- love it into the HB for example... and its a bit different than the MRD which is more compressed singing legato lead type pedal....... the CH is more high gain amp in a box with crunch retention 8)

I am Gassing after a CHII big time! Custom sounds said that i'm close to the top of the list, so im keeping my fingers crossed for a new batch soon! Any word about any future modifications or changes that are being made to this model via research feedback?

I agree. I picked up a CH I a while ago, and do wish it had a tone control... I think it needs a minor surgery; I usually need to try to cut out some treble one way or another.

Were there any other tweaks for version II?

CH1 is a great companion for the SBEQ - the CH1 is a bit rawer - and the SBEQ gives you the mods I think youd want - but yes its nice to have the dedicated tone control too 8)

Yeah, I keep almost pulling the trigger on the SBEQs that pop up, I just haven't quite done it yet. I know there's no downside and I'd use it for more than that, but somehow it seems more complicated than it needs to be to pick up another pedal to tame the highs.

i think we really need a pedal that will be a "gateway" pedal for younger players to get into the Mad Professor line....

SHOD and LGW are mostly blues dudes pedals.....MRD is for those 80s rockers like me.....FRF is a great fuzz......

but the CLIFFHANGER II is the ONE pedal I have heard from the entire BJFe/Mad Professor range that has the POTENTIAL to be a big HIT with the young metal guitarists.

IF the CH II can be made in the new MP "CB" line for the $169 price point, it might open up the entire Mad Professor line to an entire NEW generation of guitarists.

heck, i really want a CH II as well......the DRD is still one of my faves......but the CH II just CRUSHES most pedals.

i was gonna do a "high gain pedal shootout" video, using pedals from several manufacturers of boutique high end pedals, including EMMA, BJFe, Mad Professor, and others.......but the CH II just KILLED everything else. it was not a fair fight. the CH II was clearly the superior pedal out of ALL the others in the video.

and i KNOW that the CH II would sound AMAZING with a 7 string, or downtuned to C.......with a big 4x12 cab stack and a loud, clean amp.....

i don't think there is ANY other pedal that i have liked better than the CH II for high gain distortion :love4 :pedallove :love4
