Dudes. :love4

Got a PPF this week.. arrived yesterday. Just had a few hrs with it... OK, now why didnt I try this earlier? (the mantra I say every time I pop open a box o' Bjorn...)

This is like the perfect mix... The CAF is cool, as Donnel (I think it was him) sort of mentioned, its insane fun for some bedroom jamming and an occasional song with the band, but hard for me to find a place in daily playing with the styles I focus on. A keeper for the spots it covers for sure.. and for when I want goosebumps during self indulgent leads...but the PPF....

BJ once said something along the lines of this pedal was aiming for "those songs you *know* used fuzz in recording, but sound more like a distortion". Some Hendrix falls in here... Well at the risk of sounding extremely repetitive, BJ just nailed something so sweet with this box!! Its that fine line far beyond overdrive, not quite "distortion", hugely playable. Cranking the fuzz does get you near the territory where intermodulation can make chording sound nasty- Im liking it at about 11:00 for an all around kewl fuzz sound usable for lots of lead *and* rhythm sounds..

:bjorn :notworthy

Thats all I gotta say.

one of the only BJFe i have never tried. i think maybe the folk fuzz is somewhat similar? the folk fuzz i have sounds like a nice cross between fuzz and OD......very cool pedal :pedallove

Having a very similar experience with my first tinkering on the ALF - try running your SYOD into it (I have the V1) to add some sparkle. I'm getting together with some guys tonight, so I will get to try this out at volume - very excited!

Kewl!

Can anyone who has tried the alf, ppf, and ff compare them? We all know the CAF is the wildest, I'm interested in how the more tame ones compare...

Got mine :mailbox

I have only about 20 min on it so far.

The Nature knob is the key. CCW= fuzz, Noon = distortion, CW= intruduces mids and compression for overdrive.

This pedal is really versitle and I am glad I have it. It covers much more ground than my AWF and it does it well.

I really do not like the Nature knob past 3 o'clock so far, but that may change. Have some more playing to do :music :pedallove :bjorn

Ha, that's funny--just got my PPF yesterday :mailbox , and it's in near mint condition, and yes, I put off trying one in a way--just had never been THAT pursuant of one, but what a pleasant surprise :pedallove Nature control works great with my amp, and is very useful--a lot of textures to be had, and a very good amount of gain.

Donner said how well it works with other fuzzes, and I will try that with some of the vintage stuff I have, but couldn't resist trying it with the AWF--one word...KILLER!!

Another Holy Grail fuzz tone for me without question--just thick, rich, but plenty focused with the gain/sustain of a Fire Red Fuzz yet with more flexibility, and because it's a BJFE--it's got that extra sumfin sumfin.

On fuzz strengths, I would say it goes from lightest to heaviest...FF--AWF--PPF--CAF--actually my BBOD is easily as gainy as my CAF, but not all are like that.

the essence of the PPF is 'useful, versatile tool' ~~~ very gig/studio friendly , anyone can find a tone they would be happy to gig/record with and most of the bad sounds have been removed - you can sweep thru 'almost OD'/ Distortion and familiar Fuzz sounds ..... its the fuzz cuz to the DRD - you can nail 90% of all rock tones with those ttwo pedals. :glasses

the SBEQ and PPF are a REALLY versatile pair too ...

This really is the pedal I'd take if I had to choose just one. It goes from a slight OD to full on MKI fuzz with relative ease. amazing pedal.
