I bet you would like the EGDM with that little guy

Oh donner,

I could not help myself. I had to get the EGDM after that comment.

I'll let you know how I like it when I get it.

Cheers,
Jon

jonnyrocket, make sure you take some time to learn the EGDM! There are so many sounds in it just by changing voltages! If things arent working out make sure you come back and ask questions as you need to approach Bjorn's pedals with a very open mind and lots of curiosity and imagination. THe rewards are great!

Good call.
The trim pot inside is also important in terms of matching your amp.
This is time well spent to get it just right. :pedallove

The only other thing about this one is...IT MIGHT GET LOUD!
It's always my lowest setting for volume of ANY BJF pedal I own.

I like the Barb EQ so far, but given how impressed I was with the HBOD, i wonder if the SBEQ would also impress me and ultimately kick the Barb EQ off my board.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

the SBEQ- before your OD's will make single coils sound like humbuckers.
At the end of the chain- it's a way of shaping any of your overdrives.
Another of Mr. Juhl's pedals that can beneift from different v options, (as per the power supply thread).

I'm selling mine to pay for a KLON.

thesjkexperience, thanks for the advise. I will spend a lot of time playing with it and adjusting the internal trim pot. I aleas have fun tweaking pedals and stacking them to get new sounds.

Strings2wood, I will be careful with the volume. I live in a small apartment and my neighbors are not very happy when I play guitar. Can't wait for my attenuator to arrive.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend,
Jon

Jon, the EGDM stacks very well, but it is best earlier in the chain. It also loves Strats & Teles. You can see in my signature where it sits in my chain. I rarely run any of my drives above noon for rhythm and will add another BJFE dirt pedal(s) or the SBEQ to boost solos or go for more grind.

One of my favorite stacks is the EGDM > Honey Bee OD and it also kills into the Sea Blue EQ. But as Bjorn says "have fun" who knows what you will discover :music

Strings2wood nailed the SBEQ positioning. (he is also a sissy for buying a Klon :pottytrain1 ) I used to run the SBEQ before dirt when I used a clean boost. Over time I realized clean boosts suck verses BJFe colors and moved to my current chain. I do have a DAM Red Rooster to boost the front end of pedals (and amps), but it isnt on the board and I bring it out for fun.

I really can't wait to try the EGDM. For all i have read and heard, i think i am going to love it. I have been playing with a lot of od's these past week and am looking to narrow it down to two or three pedals. So far the Honeybee is the only one that has won the right to stay

It is good to hear that it plays well with strats/teles, as I mostly use a strat.

I am still planning on getting the SBEQ, but have to give my wallet a little break. It would be great to use it to beef up the tone a bit and make the single coils sound humbucker-like.

strings2wood, great poem and pic. I haven't seen Marvin the Martian in forever.

Jon

Hey Jon-very good advice from these two.
Treble setting is critical to tune to your
rig-makes all the difference.
Also, voltage variations are highly reactive
with the EGDM-a lot to play with there.
As well, the voicing knob has a lot of swing
and can make single coils sound fat towards
the CCW side.
Lastly, it excels at lower gain, boost settings
where you can impart some AC 30 flavor to
your sound, and the compression characteristics
are great--there is a LOT to play with! :pedallove :music
