i used the Ruby Red, along with the new CB versions of the SHOD and LGW last nite, and you know what? i ended up using the RUBY RED nearly all nite long!

with the gain cranked all the way up, slight treble boost set to 1 oclock, master volume set to one oclock for a bit of a boost into the amp, it sounded BIG and OPEN and with just the right amount of HAIR and EDGE to the sound.

i have buffer set ON.....

this Ruby Red is now going to be the pedal that always rides in my gigbag, for times when i am not using my rig, or going to a jam session.

this new series of pedals from MP is really killer.....now, if we can get the Forest Green, the Tiny Orange, the Mighty Red.....


and if i could dare to dream, PLEASE MAKE AN MP version of the CLIFFHANGER II......market it as the high gain pedal for modern rockers, 7 string players, downtuned guys. the CH II would be the one BJFe pedal that i think would catch the ears of many young HEAVY guitarists.....

Bobby any chance u'r going to be shooting a demo of this pedal anytime soon? really looking forward to hearing it in action.

i am not 100% happy with that first demo, but i wanted to get one up NOW....

i will do some more demos SOON using the Ruby Red to boost the LGW and SHOD, etc.....

i really like using the Ruby Red as an OVERDRIVE.....it has a nice open sound with a good amount of gain, especially when driven by a humbucker

this is a pedal that i think most guitarists NEED on their board - it is multi-functional, has a nice buffer if you need it, and sound great! plus, it's only $169 for Bjorn-designed goodness.

One cool feature of a treble booster, aside from just an overall brightening if the sound, is that it has a much higher gain for higher frequencies. You can dial it in with a lower boost setting on the right knob, crank the treble knob, and you'll get a pedal that gives a good boost to your leads in the upper frets for more gain, vs the lower frets which aren't amplified as much.

guys.....i just did a demo with the Ruby Red boosting both the Little Green Wonder & the Sweet Honey overdrives....and it's AMAZING. the stacking/boosting capability of the Ruby Red is FANTASTIC.

this new "CB" series of MP pedals is very exciting.

the Ruby Red is AMAZING for stacking. when using the other overdrives as "amp simulators", or little overdriven amp platforms playing into a clean amp - the Ruby Red sounds GREAT - it does not "oversaturate" the pedals you are stacking it into!

"oversaturation" can be a real problem with stacking - you have to set your gain and volume levels LOWER than you would like when you are using the pedals by themselves, so that when you are stacking you don't overdo it with gain/volume.

the Ruby Red just WORKS.......it sounds great by itself, AND it sounds great stacking into the other pedals. i can set my Sweet Honey and Little Green to very nice "rhythm" sounds, and use the Ruby Red to push them into solo gain levels with great tone!

I guess I am kind of late here. I finally got to try the Ruby Red and it is awesome!

So far I have tried it in front of my chain, stacked with various combinations of a Tone Press, HBOD, DRD, SBEQ and Deep Blue Delay. Within a week i should be able to try it with a Forest Green.

Bobby D, thanks for your videos and descriptions, they are to blame on this last purchase of mine. You were dead on! The Ruby does not oversaturate pedals that are stacked afterwards. I tried it, with Boost and Treble cranked, into the HBOD (gain cranked and nature all the way CCW) and it sounded quite close to my 5 watt tweed cranked. It gets kind of fuzzy, but does not loose clarity, if that make any sense. It also seems to do a good job at getting good OD at bedroom levels by using the Master.

I am also using it with the Buffer ON, as the main reason for this purchase was to have a buffer. Recently I read Bjorn’s post about the importance of having buffers in long chains of pedals, and it was like a revelation for me. Since i got a new amp, I noticed my sound has been feeling kind of muffled. For these past months i have been trying to compensate with my BarbEQ and SBEQ with moderate success. After reading what Bjorn said, I sandwiched my pedal board with two buffers and VOILÁ! My sparkle is back!

Where are you all using the Ruby Red on the chain? Before or after compressor?
What voltage are you using? I believe it can go from 8V-18V

I am using mine at the end of the chain (see below) as a volume and treble booster. So far I like it at 12 Volts as it seems a bit thicker in the highs and it takes being at the end of the chain better. I also have the buffer on.
