Newfound love for BBOD & Tele

Postby pmard » Sat Jun 19, 2010 1:32 am

I just traded my '08 Gibson J-200 for a clean 1974 Telecaster custom, and a whole new world was introduced to me! I had always thought that I'm a humbucker- kind of guy and that thick sound is the only way. Still recently I've grown to like more and more that bridge pickup bite with lesser and lesser distortion, with just a hint of OD. That's why I took a chance and let the Gibson go (sure don't miss it).
I have kept the BBOD and the HB quite unused lately when I've extensively kept the red light on in my DRD and MH. But now after the tele opened my eyes there's a overwhelming amount of the most beautiful sounds to be discovered from the BJFe OD's! -I backed the drive in the BBOD at 9:00 at highest and raised the volume with the treble at 2:00 and that is the thing I've looked for. I 've usually kept my PGC always on, but now it was even better to leave it off, and that's quite rare. The first day went flying with the BBOD, I just tested the HB with a great joy of its potential, but I had to rush back to the baby blue...
I'm so exited to hop on to this new sonic expedition with a new perspective to these wonderful pedals. Can't wait to explore the Folk Fuzz and and the CAF.

Hi,

my all time favourite settings with Tele & HB is "all the way up" - everything full on HB! Works for me!
Glad to hear, that your´re still diggin BJF´s: seems like my old Folk Fuzz found a good home with you !)

All the best,

Jussi.

Hi Jussi!

Oh yes!!! I will definitely try that!!!

- I've wondered if it was you I bought the FF. It found a good home with me for sure, I've found many useful sounds from it and used it quite a lot in the studio also. Thank you again after these years!!! :)

I really dig the BJFe's!! Their sound is something that I almost take granted for because I'm so used to them. But especially in a recording situations I feel so lucky to own them, they're like little precise and powerful tools which makes the life so much easier when you look for the right sound. It's so fast and intuitive to use them and you're right in the ballpark! Love them.

Best,

Petteri

you should also consider the EGDM between a Tele and a HB ~ one of my favorites ....

also the Red Rooster Booster is perfect for a Tele Bridge (or P90)

I agree that a tele and a BBOD are a great combo. Question for those of you using a Baby Pink with your BBOD... do you put the BPB before or after the BBOD?

BBOD gets nasty when pushed - BBOD > BPB ( This is also the BBOD Deluxe and the HBDeluxe)

also the BPB is buffered which would kill some of the touch dynamics if it was first ....

Working the Tele's control knob works GREAT with BJFE pedals.

Thanks for the great tips!!!

I've really stacked the BBOD into HB and the results are wonderful with the tele's bridge pick up. It feels like I could take more and more that treble bite, thing that I wasn't very keen on in the past. :D And the neck pick up's sound is also very useful. The HB is really amazing pedal. One afternoon just flew with that set- up.

The EGDM needs more exploring with the tele. I've used it a lot earlier, I liked it over DRD for a long time, but now it's been waiting for revival. At first it wasn't as easy to dial for the neck pick up as BBOD, but it really delivered fat boost with the bridge one.
It's a crying shame I don't own the Red Rooster.. :D :D :D
