Mine is a later SYOD; serial number B3/5. I assumed it was a version 2 but there is no 'V2' on the front. Does this mean it is version 1? Any one know?

Cheers

yes just to clear something up - the physical difference is the paintjob - it does not say V 1 or V 2 on the outside of any of them ....
the v1s are very Yellow - the V2 run looks more like a Goldtop
Side by side the difference is obvious (except on Steves which is from the next batch  )

I can clearly see V2 on the attachment that steveA contributed with. Am I missing something? Can someone please describe the graininess of SYO and maybe give some directions to clips were big delayed powerchords is beeing done.

Hey analohog, how would you describe the V1 with your marshall? I´m looking for raunchy like an all out fistfight. The BBOD gets me there every time but needs alot of tweaking.

Hello :-) Yes, I get asked about embedding audio files every so often... Some time ago I created a whole number of tags specifically for the Forum. These tags allow members to display all sorts of complex content such as MP3 files, SoundCloud files, Google videos, MySpace videos etc, etc. I used to have the technical note for this hidden in the "BJFE Library" section however I have now made this Global Announcement so that you can read how to embed media content within any section. So, just look at the top of the page under "Announcements" and you should see a thread called Tech Note: Embedding Audio and Video Content and it will explain how to embed this information. If you need the Forum to support any other content or content providers then just let me know and I will see if I can create a new tag to do so :-)

Its not all that raunchy. Its more like a bright OD that cuts through everything. It has less of the smoothness of the V2 to be sure, but its far from being raunchy and dirty.

HI CB,
I did a clip of the SYOD(and DHBOD,EGDM for comparison) here:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3079

I have V2 and while I can't compare it directly with V1, I can say that it has more gain than a stock HB and SHOD, but less gain than both my BBOD's. On it's own, it's very crunchy with 'buckers with the drive maxed, and the treble control is extremely well-voiced for dialing in just the right amount of upper-end contour...I will say the HB, SHOD, and easily the BBOD can all get brighter sounding(maybe this is closer to where V1 was voiced), but it's not dark by ANY means.

On the demo, hit with the BPB, it DOES get quite thick and raunchy sounding..easily one of my favorite two-channel overdrive/distortion combos into a clean amp.
I'll be posting a more extensive SYOD demo next week.

Updated with a few clips of the v2 at different settings.

I tried to make it as unbiased as possible. I'm recording on a /13 EDT with a CS strat outfitted with lollar pickups. Its being recorder through an M-audio 1814 with a SM57 mic and a Wunder PEQ1R preamp. I'm using the PGC with the Comp at noon and Body fully clockwise. Best to all.

I'll add the v1 later on.

Best to all.
