It works well eerywhere, but I put mine first, as it's great at goosing other drives into another dimension...And it really is great on its own for the blues 8)

Well, I read the directions that came with the pedal D'oh! It saved me a bunch of time and gave me even more ideas. I was using it with too much gain to get the best sound as a front end booster. I was playing around with something similar to the suggested middle setting earlier and you need to be playing loud for it to really work. But, it is the full up sound that is so fun and was the biggest surprise!

Hopefully, I will get a bunch of time today to play around some more :)

yeah the full up setting is a nice suprise to most people - usually drives of this kind turn to mush after about 3 oclock - but because of the filtering and headroom, it is still a dynamic distortion with the drive floored.... 8)

i get to demo a LOT of tube screamer type OD pedals........and it never fails that the LGW kicks ALL of their butts.

if you notice, i will never do A/B comparisons to other pedals with my BJFe's -- because it's not a fair fight. the BJFe's always WIN

the LGW sounds bigger and fuller than any of the other tubescreemas that i have played....and i like the LF 353 in mine..... 8)

Thanks Slim. I might try that one as I could see it being a more versatile pedal booster that way, but the stock chip sounds fantastic as an OD/Distortion!

I am also trying to decide if I should give the Sweet Honey another shot. It was the first of the Bjorn designed pedals I tried and I didn't know what I was doing  and then borrowed a HBOD and preferred that, so I sent the SHOD back. After some time with a HBOD and EGDM I sold almost all my other pedals and an amp to fund the list below which is all I have (poor me I know). I am so shocked by the LGW that maybe revisiting the SHOD would be a good idea. I could see having a three pedal board + tuner for blues jams with the 2 MP pedals and a tiny Vibe style pedal that can all run on batteries.

The LGW I have is in mint condition and I was wondering if there is a problem covering the serial number with Velcro (if you are not the original owner)?

Well it sounds better with the serial number uncovered, but should still function properly ....

3 pedals you might dig would be the Tiny Orange Phaser and the Forest Green Comp into the LGW .... the FGC will give beautiful cleans in sustain mode and the TOP is a very versatile modulation that includes some vibe territory those into the LGW would cover alot of blues jams.... 8)

The TOP is my secret weapon for just that. Try it before a CAF in 'octavia mode'....delicious
Also, before the hbod. 8)

Still waiting for my CAF! Someday....(hurry up Bjorn ;) )

I have had three PGC go through here and I just don't get compressors. Before I got Lollars I used it on my Jazzmaster to even out the response, and for the very tiny amount of finger-picking I do. But, it seems to thin things out and I don't feel the amp. I watched the Demo of the FGC on PGS and it was funny as he couldn't stop playing long enough to really show any sustain in the sustain mode.

I suspect I would have to hear the TOP in person. Like Uni-Vibes you cant really hear them well unless you are in the room or at least not through the compression of a condenser mic and the phasing issues of the room(s).

I did get to play just the LGW today into my Victoria and I could get great bridge and middle tones, but then the neck would be muddy. I was just using the battery, as I would at a jam, and was surprised at the touch sensitivity. I hope to get some time in tomorrow with the Swart and Dr Z as most blues jam back-lines have big bright amps.

Yesterday I received my MP LGW along with OPA2134 and LF353N. The LGW has more gain and better EQ than I remember my 1981 TS-808 w/Malaysian RC4558P chip. Of course I am going off memory and wasn't able to A/B the pedals. So far I think I like the OPA2134 the best although it is a little on the Hi-Fi side I like the overdrive and seems to give the pedal a little more sparkle. The LF353N is has less gain but is very smooth, cleans up better and more touch sensitive. The stock chip isn't bad either seems to me that it has the most sustain out of the 3. I am going to keep the LF353N for a while and switch to the OPA2134. Love this pedal :P

The funny thing is when I was running the DC jack or an alkaline battery I was getting pretty displeased with the sound of the OD/distortion being a bit harsh. Being a big fuzz addict, and without getting all Eric Johnson, I put in some cheap carbon zinc batteries and now it sounds much better to my ears! The top end is softer and the grit has mellowed. Now this is running just a LGW and a tuner to simulate what I would be using at a jam. I haven't given it a shot on the board again, but for fun I did set my sag on about 8.5 volts to see if it smooths out the sound a bit. Hopefully, I will get to play a bit more tonight and see how it sounds on the board where there is a slight taming effect due to the excessive amount of pedals ;)

One other weird thing is on the bottom plate there is a black rectangular sticker with a white outline of a trashcan and that has the international symbol of "do not" through the trash can. Are they seriously thinking people are going to throw their LGW away?!?
