I haven't had a chance to play the EGDM with the band yet and everything is different there but the EGDM
sounds unbelieveable in the bedroom. I've read your either a DRD or EGD guy and right now I'm thinking EGD.
The trimmer works great. At bedroom levels, the DRD sounds like it has a blanket over the speakers compaired to the DRD, but live , the DRD sounds really nice and think and not fizzy at all. So maybe the EGD will be too glassy where I have the trimmer set now , I may have to lower it with my live rig. However, The EGD sounds huge and very brown! Not what I was expecting. Can be very high gain and thick but still chimey and clear. With buckers, the drive cranked and the voice somewhere CCWto1/2, dare I say EVH hints? Growly unlike any other I've had but kinda clean but saturated and breathy! The low gain is very nice as well, I like the drive down to 0 and the volume up, really nice. It also sounds really nice being driven by the RRB. I'm using a 6v6 tweed amp, I also have a Marshall 18w w/ El84s but I haven't tried it with that yet, I run both amps through Celestion Alnicos. Will I end up selling the DRD??? I have a set of gigs this weekend, well see what happens.
PS- Anyone want to write a 12 page paper on the impact of the internet in Iran for me? It's due Tue....Please:-)

Played with my EGDM that ive had for about a month.. but just had some extended "alone time" with it yesterday.
I noticed two things that changed the initial impression i had from it thus far.
1) The internal trimpot!!!! The pedal always just sounded muffled to me, not dark per se, but just not as bright as my DRD, SHOD, etc... I play primarily through a les paul, and even the bridge pup with tone at 10 didnt seem as bright as it should. I opened 'er up and turned it just a little- maybe 1/8" of a turn, and then tried it. The thing opened up bigtime. Now it felt like it had some edge that got my hair standing up.
2) The voice knob. Wow. So I knew it wasnt a standard tone control, but hadnt had much time to play with it, especially in conjuntion with various gain settings. it does NOT get bright on CW and dark on CCW settings as I was incorrectly expecting. It seems to be the most articulate right around noon (go figure).. but full CCW *and* full CW seemed to remove some clarity for most gain positions- most notably when gain was cranked up past 3:00 or so.
Need to spend more time with this thing... DRD has won me over lately and I was about to put the EG out on the market. May not quite yet...

and yeah bsic the voice and the distortion controls together approximate what happens to a vox amp as you crank it - not only the changes in distortion but in compression and EQ and the relationship between them... combined with the internal master treble to match the speakers its being paired with its a very versatile piece, but consequently its also possible to complete mismatch it to the amp your using.......
