Question on the Deep Blue Delay

Just got into the BJF stuff, and wow is it ever phenomenal. Currently only have the HoneyBee and RRB but am looking into more of the lines.

My question is, I have heard that the DBD doesn't do well in some amp loops, and I was wondering if the DBD will work well in the loop of my Mesa Mark III, loop output is 0.6V rms, and I see that the DBD max input is 650mV rms.

I do believe it will work properly, but just want to know if anyone has tried this combo, I just really prefer the delay after the gain stage, and I use my amps gain alot.

Any info would be great.

i have not used the DBD in the effects loop of my amp. but it is one of the BEST sounding delay pedals i have ever used running into the preamp section of an amp.

i know you may prefer to use it in the effects loop....and i totally understand that.....but give it a try direct into the amp :D

the deep blue is my favorite delay EVER. i have owned MANY delay pedals, many that are more fancy with more knobs and switches and features. but the deep blue delay has been my favorite!

it's in EVERY ONE of my pedal demos 8)

I will be trying it in all the positions on my board for sure, I was just wondering if my FX loop was a good fit for the DBD, I believe that it will be fine, as my loop voltage is actually lower than a couple of my pickups output voltage.

Thanks for the comments, I am sure the DBD will pair nicely with my Empress VMSD, and work as I want it to through my FX loop.

Bjorn has made me a believer.

Hey Slim aka BobbyD that Fetto Nord rocks, next on my list is the DRD :D

Hi Tri99er,

So - how are you liking the DBD- and where did it end up in your chain?

I really like the DBD, paired with my VMSD I am finally in delay heaven (been through more delays than I would like to admit).

As for its placement, it bounces all over the place depending on its need. 90% of the time though it is in my FX loop just after the VMSD and before a Spring Chicken.

It does sound great everywhere though, and I am lucky my FX loop is DBD friendly, but I do know that the DBD will not be going anywhere soon.
