in the studio last nite again with a bevy of BJFe

great nite in studio......

producer LOVES the honeybee and the Dyna Red.

we ALSO used the LGW and the SWeet Honey for some different tones.

LGW really surprised me, stacked into the Honeybee.....very nice!

only bad part was that when i tried to use the CAF on a track, he said "no....."

then i tried to use the TOP on a rhythm guitar track, he again said "no!"

hmmmmmm......

most of the album is ALL "bread and butter" middle of the road classic tones.

why can't i have some FUN?

ah well......after this album is done, i am gonna concentrate on doing my OWN album.

and i will turn on the CAF and the TOP and ANY pedal i want!!!

i had the CAF dialed into the octavia sound, and i thought it was a nice lead tone to use.....but producer hated it.

used the TOP on a rhythm sound, thought it would be a good classic 70s sort of nashville thing, they used phase a LOT, like waylon jennings......but producer says NO!

damn producers

oh well.......he was VERY VERY impressed with the honeybee and Dyna Red -- said they were the best sounding dirt pedals that had EVER BEEN at the Power Station studios. that's some high praise right there....from the studio that has recorded Chic, Dave Matthews, Ozzy, and many more platinum records!

and then, after we were done recording, the rain had been going HARD all nite.

we were flooded, and STUCK at the studio.

i tried to walk up the street to get some food, and was in waist deep water

didn't get home til 4 am.

flash flooded most of broward and dade counties last nite.

weird nite.

but i guess it kinda showed me that this particular band may not have wide enough musical vision for me to be in it.

it was fun to record the album though....i am proud of the guitar playing i did on it.

but it's really time for ME to record my OWN album again.

every time i have had a SUCCESSFUL record, it is because i am frustrated with the bands i am playing in, and record a "solo" project.

and that project usually becomes MUCH more successful than the band i am playing in 8)

don't know why that keep happening.

well you can blame the rain on the producer denying t he CAF !!!! Beelzefuzz hath been pissedoffamafied !!!!

But I really I can see that - on a record they are very careful to not 'date' it too much and guitar 'effects' and tricks are the quickest way to do that even classic ones - and they also cause ear fatique sometimes, so the CAF and TOP way be killin for live performances they may not make the 'safe' cut in the studio .......

or run the CAF into the HB for him

would love to do it at the POWER STATION, but will probably do it at my friend Wes's studio, he has Red Room Recorders in Tampa, where Porcupine Tree do all their guitar tracking....
