CAF - too much "fuzz"?

I recently bought a CAF to replace the Green Apple Fuzz I sold a few years ago. I recall the GAF had more range to the "fuzz" control. This CAF had no change from full ccw to 3:00. Is this normal? I would love to have more variation in the amount of fuzz. Thanks.

Yes, all settings on nature. I just checked again and it is really 4:00 before any change happens in fuzz control.

Well, perhaps you got an early CAF, I felt with the the design that you could use the volume control on guitar but that the fuzz control would be more for controlling feedback at high volumes but then I got a call on my mobilephone where a guy played something for me that hardly sounde like a guitar but that he later told me was CAF with plaed with a Les Paul withe volume turned down to 2 and if I'd please make the Fuzz control go down to that while vlume on guitar could be on full it'd be perfect.........


The GAF that is a peculiar one and always was if you liked that perhaps you should have kept it. I made it for a guitarist in California so as he shouldn't have to bring his shiny looking CAF to some of the bars he was playing and so he wanted something that would not catch and ey and I had this idea of pealed apple skin and so it would be easy to dial on stage it also had the ocatve setting marked with an index.

I was asked to make that one as ugly as I could but also as useful in live settings as I could.

Thanks for the response. My serial number is in the low 20s. You are so right that I should have kept the GAF. Is there any way to get mine to have less fuzz at lower settings? Is it simply replacing the pot?

there WAS someone seeking an early CAF specifically a few weeks ago, looking to buy one.....maybe he will DIG yours? and you can get a later one with the $$$ ???

Hi Scott,

Ah no,
It'd have to be rebuilt.
I'll say this if you cannot get low enough fuzz level with fuzz control all the way off the your unit will considering its low serial number have o be rebuilt or you could sell it to some one who'd like moe fuzz and get a higher number.
