What would you like to know about the BBOD?

Postby mrpicard » Wed Oct 21, 2009 7:41 am

Well, I have volunteered to create a special page in the "BJFE Library" that details the history of the BBOD covering things like its birth, circuit changes, tone changes, enclosure changes, secret wire colours etc, etc, etc. So, if you would like to know anything about the BBOD then just post it here. I will leave this thread open for a few weeks and once there are enough interesting questions/information I will collate it all, find out the answers and then put it all together in some sort of coherent form. BJ has graciously agreed to help set the record, so thank you BJ :D.

So, what would people like to know about the BBOD?

I am interested in the variations of the BBOD, when they began, their differences and more about the Baby Pink OD version....

Hi,

I'll tell more about when and why V2 came about later.
Specifically for Baby Pink OD it's a V2 and it's a custom colour and came as a switch colour pair with a Baby Blue Booster
making those reversed in colour so they'd be a pair.

I'm intrigued by the story that it started in the fuzz family ... I thought I'd read.

I'm also interested in the Baby Blue's fuzz origin/moniker, it's initial "tone focus/goal", and through the changes to the end of the run, if those goals were met, and if the parts availability wasn't an issue, would it still be produced as BJF pedal or as a Mad Professor product.

I guess this may sort of overlap with some of the previous posts but...Was there any specific types of guitars which the circuit was optimized for when being designed? Any other pedals that it was designed to stack better with than others?...Great thread! :D

Can it be made/re-created albeit modified again?
I know the lack of some components was an issue.
I'm sure a (BJF) BBOD would have great interest from many BJF/ Mad Professor users and potential users.

could we possibly make the BBOD circuit modified for some more easily found parts, and make it into a FOLK OVERDRIVE project???

Uh-oh, the BBOD flames are a gettin' hot!
Yes, I cast my vote as well...Folk Overdrive Project, or FOP...Baby Blue resurrected under a new guise
Me likes this idea very much!
