When you say uneven, is this in regards to amplitude or time?

I believe it is referring to time.

Silicon transistors, but BJT, JFET or MOSFET? What is the biasing scheme/topology? Are working points independent of each other? Is the filtering simple or complex? How do you achieve, with intent, uneven period time in this design? What, specifically, are the working points and why were they chosen?

Hi,

In the text above I refered to time hence periodtime.

It's a good thing you pointed that out as uneven response in amplitude then in regards to a square wave or close to square wave is something commonly found in preamp triodes when grid space is exceeded and grid to cathode forms a rectifier....

and something that BOSS applied a patent for in their solution of that as an application in an overdrive pedal for guitar with their OD-1.

really everything is ultimately variable ... the question is: can you control it ? or in our universe: can you put it on a knob 8)

Hi Bjorn,

Between the above and a post you made on TGP...

"Yes the BBOD was partly designed to do a composite sound, while mostly to capture a specific function that you'd find a little below noon on the drive using a strat- differs somewhat with guitars."

What are you listening for when setting the drive control on the BBOD? I gather it is a change in "distortion style." Could you elaborate?

Thanks, Scott
