Folk Fuzz

How are the Folk Fuzz and the CAF different/same. I haven't used fuzzes much in my playing time, except a Fulltone '69 here and there.

I was just wondering which of the three BJF fuzzes would get the most range of sounds. my fav fuzz sounds are the wall o' fuzz sound like Teenage Fanclub, My Bloody Valentine, early Superdrag, etc. Classic rock and the modern equivilent (ie stones, Kings of Leon, Black Crowes, Neil Young) and Alt.Country stuff (Wilco, Jayhawks, Son Volt, etc).

Hi,

The 3,5% is a reference to alcohol content in beer. It implies the "strength" of the fuzz. So the Folk Fuzz is like a regular beer (insert standard, everyday lager-type beer here), in terms of how fuzzy or crazy it gets. You can think of the PPF as maybe 5,0%. The CAF would be more like a Belgian Trappist beer, with an alcohol content of 7,5%. So the higher the number, the higher the overall fuzz and craze feel of the pedal. That's how Donner explained it to me.

The use of a comma (3,5%) versus an American decimal (3.5%) is a European thing.

You can sort of think of the CAF and PPF as two halves of a whole.....
The CAF is all the crazy sounds fuzzes are known for ~ octaves, ringmodding, gating,synthish,spitty chainsaw stuff

The PPF is some of the more normal fuzz and even overdrivish stuff in a controllable form

the Folk Fuzz is more organic and looser than either and can be thought of as an ancestor of the CAF and PPF and is my favorite for Alt Country....
