BJFE can even cover the Michael Jackson Stuff:-)

Postby huckleboogie » Fri Oct 02, 2009 5:59 pm

hi there, haven't posted here for a while...
but i gotta give praise where praise is due....
i got a job in a Michael Jackson musical that'll be touring europe soon....yea i know...kinda boring, he's dead and now everyone's trying to make some money. anyway, the music's fun, and i discovered how sophisticated some of MJ's stuff is...respect!!!
i took a lot of my pedals to rehearsals, in order to be most versatile....Dirty Diana and Beat it and Wanna be Startin something would have to be covered, all with my fender prosonic......but after trying everything i ended up using: Sweet Honey into DRD int SBEQ. got everything covered! and after comparing Bjorn's creations 1:1 to classics like my old DS1 or SD9 (i love them both) i realized one more time that these gems are worth every $$$ i spent for them. great stuff for the workin musician:-)
thx Bjorn!

Cheers on scoring the gig. I always have fun being in the "orchestra", even if the music isn't something I'd choose to listen to otherwise.

Isn't the SHOD just the most amazing OD ever. I've been using it into a LGW in a 60s/70s band and the range of available tone is astonishing. Can't imagine, now, working without it. Like you, I've gone back and tried combinations of some of my old favorites - Klon, Timmy, etc. - I still like them, but none come close in terms of versatility and responsiveness.

yes, the SHOD never ceases to amaze me....to be honest, i took my old boss and ibanez pedals to the gig, thinkin, ok this is the 80s, lets try the original stuff :-) but i ended up with the Bjorn combo. wish i could add a Pine Green compressor!!!
i don't like that kind of gigs normally, playing somebody else's music, but in this case i have to cover some amazing and challengin guitar work, so it's definitely fun. that off the wall and thriller rhythm stuff is insane! not to mention having to solo on Beat It.....and 20 dancers right in front of me onstage, doing amazing routines  gotta love it :-)

great to hear Huckleboogie, congradulations, ive always gone back and forth between the DRD>SHOD stack. Lately Im convinced the SHOD>DRD is IT.
It gives a mid push that is like no other, along with the dynamic control and sweet pinch harmonics I think you can nail the Beat It solo. btw wasnt that EVHalen who did that recording!? either way awesome tones, awesome tunes, enjoy!!

Donner, slick is the right word, hehe....til i had to really check it out, i had NO IDEA how sophisticated some of that stuff is. well, Quincy Jones was at work here, so....

yeah Cabo, i've been messing around with both possibilities, but i found that SHOD>DRD is the best :D i kept trying the other way around because thats how i used DRD and Honeybee. but as we all know now, SHOD is a different animal than HB....

Bjorn, You're familiar with the prosonic? i got one in "surf green"...they don't seem to be very popular, but i love mine, it takes pedals so well and is a little darker than most fender amps...nice nice:-) also the rectifier switch is handy. i think it was designed by Bruce Zinky, the guy who makes the smokey amps now :D i love those!! BTW the show might be headin to Sweden next year, maybe i'll finally get the chance to stop by and say hello.....

Hi,

Yes, I am familiar with the Prosonic and it's an unusual Fender amp- I've seen most Fender amps. I do remember talking with the finnish fender distributor once in Stockholm Old Town and he said that when Fender made an amp that could do heavy metal noone would believe it because everyone knows what a Fender sounds like even though that's not a true statement, but at any rate no Fender is going to do heavy metal! Yet there's a model that does and of course that is not a huge sale nor is the Prosonic.
I told I have a small Fender amp I have tested more than 1000 BJF pedals on and I have set a sound on it that is a normalized cross between a number of treble levels through amps I have heard and recorded in my head through my spies.

Hey whenever in Stockholm do by all means stop by and say hello hangaround for a while and play some gear-there's a store connected that has many fun toys.
You'll find my workshop at the back of http://www.thesegoto11.se same street address

Have fun
BJ
