BJFe and MP pedals and acoustic guitar??? yesssssss.........

Postby Bobby D » Tue Sep 15, 2009 1:46 pm

so, i decided to experiment and see how my electric pedalboard would work with my acoustic.

did a trio gig last nite, and used.......PGC > SHOD > DBD > SBEQ

sounded freaking awesome!

loved the sweet honey on acoustic guitar...used it for solos, with a little crunch. and the PGC just gave the acoustic guitar that "studio sheen", big fatsound with a hint of compression.

SWF was a bit too fat for the acoustic.......and i did not try the model R yet......LGW was almost a bit too fat as well, so i stuck with using the SHOD.

i really liked playing this way. using a seagull artist model dreadnought cutaway, with the full lr baggs duet system -- but used mostly piezo, instead of mixing in the ribbon transducer.

Slim,

I've often wondered about BJF's with the acoustic guitar. I live in a very small apartment right now and play mostly acoustic acoustic, if you know what I mean.

Were you playing through a PA system, an acoustic amp, tube amp, solid state, etc...??? Just curious.

I think when my neighbor goes out for dinner one evening I shall give this a try!!

hey cork!

i was playing thru a pretty big PA system, all bose speakers and some of those new bose tower system speakers for monitors.

i have been doing solo acoustic gigs for about the last 15 years, but i have never used my electric guitar rig pedalboard with my acoustic. it was a LOT of fun. gonna start using it regularly!

SBEQ is my lifesaver pedal on acoustic. i love it......

I will be rocking the acousitc tomorrow with the HBOD, I will post up some clips if my playing isn't shite.

Setup will be - 1983 Guild D25C, Shape EQ, Velvet Vice, HBOD, and pick a delay (Malekko, DM-2, Superdelay) >Direct to the board.

oh yeah great stuff..........
Peizos are excellent with effects with a little EQing

I have a Silvertone that I replaced the bridge with an old Martin rosewood bridge and an EMG peizo and it kills - especially for slide......

one trick to using them is EQing

or if you have a stereo rig with a piezo and a mic or something else is using the efffects thru just one pickup and running t he other straight - micd acoustic guitar with fuzzy pickup or delayed mic with chorused pickup etc........ can really fill out your sound , but as always dont overuse it

oh yesssss.......i rewired my pedalboard today, so that i can use the same board for my acoustic and electric gigs.

the lr baggs duet system with the ribbon transducer/piezo blend really sounds good with some effects.

PINE GREEN COMPRESSOR sounds AMAZING on acoustic......really, really good! i love it. gives a "studio sheen" to the guitar sound, along with the SBEQ.

sweet honey seems to be the best dirt pedal that is acoustic friendly. but something tells me i REALLY need to get a candy apple fuzz again

gotta run, we are doing an acoustic trio gig tonite that is a lot of fun, and i get to play more lead guitar and SHRED than my usual acoustic gigs.

Not quite the same thing, but I couldn't agree more about the PGC when I was using it with a hollowbody piezo'd fretless bass. It was glorious.

And I kinda agree with the second part about the CAF just on general principle.

I played three sets with this rig today at church and it rocked, we got all the tracks loaded into logic so I will try and post some clips after mixdown. The HBOD did good

love the sound of a mildly distorted acoustic guitar, makes it JUMP OUT of the mix.
