BJF style usage

What style music do you make with your BJF stuff ?? do you notice it works better for a particular style ??

My Honey Bee is my general purpose beauty - a tweak of the nature and the drive and there's all kinds of flavours in there. Mixes with other pedals well as well, particularly fuzz, so quite often used for the heavier stuff.

I try to be as versatile as I can, but at the end of the day, I'm definitely a rock guy. I get much of my over the top arena rock sounds from the B Channel of my amp. But the majority of my tones in my current band are more "old school" in nature. I find that I use my Dynamic Amber Overdrive for about 60% of my tones. I have my A Channel of my amp (a Guytron GT100) set for a relatively clean sound that breaks up a bit when digging in with the pick. With this particular BJF on top of that, I get the best cutting classic rock tone I've ever had.

Also had some wah and phaser in there, too. Reverb / Delay added to the mix from the computer.

I play lots of straight up rock & roll, using a great edge of break up sound from Tele > PGC > SBEQ > AC30 with the odd touches from the PPF. I also use these same effects with some MGMV, Ibanez AD-80 & ZVex Loop Junky when playing "looser" ambient jams.

There is a "fine" quality about the BJF pedals that is hard to put into words...as in fine wine, fine food, etc. I have found them to be, for the most part, easy to dial into whatever style I require -- from redneck jazz, to alt country, to blues. The OD/Distortion pedals all reall want to rock, that's for sure. For blues playing, since the OD/Distortion peds are less compressed I don't think they are the choice for SRV wanna-be's. Great blues/rock tones can be had, however. More British than anything I guess.

In the band we literally play all styles. Now everyone hates to play one style,,,which is refreshing.
I think you can cover alot of ground with all the bjf's.
The VCF is now making for some great funk, reggae and jam type of music. Also has a nice sort of cocked wah lead tone.
I can find alot of use for rock,blues, punk with the different flavs of drives and distortion.
The EQ and BPB are almost always welcome with any style
The LRT with some bluegrassish jams, and feel the RRB might be nice for that as well.
I like the MV, PGC and SBEQ with jazzier tunes.
I have also found that the MV,SYT and VCF are a great pleasure on the Fender Rhodes and Hohner D6 keys. I wish I had duplicates.
Seems as if BJ has made it possible to use his pedals with alot of variety and styles of music.

Hi

I am so happy to hear all the responses.

Personally I play punk, rock, ballads, pop maybe a little jazz too and that's what I have been called on to do as a musician- always there was this: there can be a sound for this too.

I try not to forget being a musician, though it's not my work, in fact it never was I really all my life played for fun and amusement, while there never passes a day when I don't play.

I hope to get my rythmguitarist/singer/songwriter back in the mood so we can record some new material. Live is always live though.

Yup playing guitar sure beats beating up elderly people
