this is my good friend Damon Fowler. you may hear more about him soon, his new record on Blind Pig is #2 on the blues charts.

the first time he played with me he was 11 years old. now he's 30, and i come jam with HIM. i feel old.

dig his 50's Harmony Stratotone guitar straight into a blackface super on "6"

i am playing my strat, and only ONE pedal....MP LGW.

"Get Behind the Mule", y'all......

dig it 8)

doesn't it? he's not the same old tired blues crap.......i hate playing blues with many artists. but not him.

i may end up being his touring guitarist.

gives a new slant to that old adage "be nice to everyone on the way up"........because they might be YOUR BOSS one day

yeah, it's weird. we have always had this sort of synergy together when we play. he jammed with me a LOT when he was a teenager. then i moved away from tampa and didn't see him for a few years, but whenever he is on this side of the state, we try to get together to play a little. last time we jammed, it has become almost legend around here, it was a solid HOUR of us just taking it higher and higher and higher.....i wish i would have had video or audio of that night, but the people that were there (a couple of them were there last nite) still remember it vividly. it weird with guitar players......some you "gel" with, some you don't. it really depends upon the level of respect and open-ness that each player has for the other.

i love tom waits too! my best friend in college did his THESIS on tom.....the trilogy of franks wild years, swordfishtrombones, and another one.....pretty wild thesis. i'll have to dig up the link for you if you wanna read it.

i hope Damon's record really blows up, he told me that ABC television has already been using some of his music, and maybe he will get some euro touring going on, so i can hop on board and come to SWEDEN

...well, it definitely comes across in the video....i can only imagine how it was to be their live...you two should really explore that on the road, maybe even in the studio...that synergy stuff doesn't happen with everybody, and when it does, it can very very, very special...and fun!..and maybe turn that into a little cash as well ?...

you're very right analoghog.....that kind of synergy DOES NOT happen very often. and it usually happens between people who are very familiar with one another's playing and personality.

however, i have felt it with other people on occasion....but rarely.

i'm gonna have to talk to him and see what his vision is, and what he wants to do to bring his vision to the next level. maybe i will be a part of that. i like his new album a lot, and his songwriting and vocals have REALLY progressed. he was a smoking guitarist when he was ELEVEN YEARS OLD. but there are a lot of good guitarists out there. 8)

but someone who has the songwriting and the vocals to go along with it are a bit rarer

ah, the magic of these cheap little video cameras is that these moments can be captured in time, and shared. :P
