i really liked this pedal, only got to play it for a few minutes, but the more i think about it and listen back to my demo of it, the more intrigued i am by the SYOD.

HBOD into SYOD

gives me 90% of the tones I love live. Its worth being intrigued and haunted. such a killer pedal.
A delay addict with a taste for good drives.

i keep trying to find the "right" overdrive.....and the SYOD might very well be the one

love the bright "edge" it has......sort of like the LGW, but much brighter and more present with no midhump.

i'm glad this was in the tourbox, it was really cool to get to try it!

Do you know if you like the Version 1 or Version 2? On Version 2 the mids where changed so that it did not clash with the DRD as much.

No, there are two SYOD versions (excluding the first two prototypes). The first version came out a couple of years ago and in February 2009 BJ released the second version that was less bright with an EQ better suited to boosting the DRD (to make that combination less mushy) - some of the ideas on the EQ on this version also came from the SOOD work.

That will most likely be version 1... The SYOD has always been one of my favorites, I would definitely vote for it to be a "standard" pedal or at least a widely available "limited edition".

yes! me too........i liked that pedal a lot, and BJ suggested i consider it in my quest for the perfect OD pedal for me. i went back and listened to my demo video, and liked what i heard.

i need to start saving my pennies for one of those

I have the SYOD #2!
I have owned the LPOD, one of the first SYOD's, and the SOOD for a while before i traded it to Cabo (DOH!)

This review comes long after i got this pedal but i have really put this thing through it paces!

I really really love the new SYOD...it has developed into a staple on my pedalboard...it has a multitude of unique qualities that make it THE OD
In my opinion there is a large improvement over the other versions of this circuit...The pedal is perfectly balanced, each control (volume, treble, gain) is voiced exactly how one would want it...the treble control is fully useable and therefor the settings on this pedal are constantly changing...

I use it for jazz (treble about 3 o clock, gain just under noon) it adds high end sparkle without dapening the mids or bass making it excellent for chord solos/complex large chords...they RING out!

it will push a reverb tank smoothly and it sounds so nice...it also works well with analog delays...adding just enough sparkle to provide extra life into the repeats and also able to get that metallic resonant ambient delayed sound that i love so much...

AMAZING with envelope filters!

it can really rock with the gain cranked, the dynamics are alive and amp like...still retains clarity, the overtones are smooth and complex

it can be used as a tone enhancer/treble booster with the gain below noon...

I also use it as a second channel to my Swart Space Tone Reverb...this OD is uber transparent and is incredibly amp like, it gives me a very strong tonal base that is different enough from my normal amp sound to turn peoples heads when i kick it on

I have used this pedal EVERY day for the last few months in many different settings...from jazz to rock to some serious noise music...it has been the only pedal that has stayed on my pedalboard each time i re-arrange it (almost daily)

Thus, i think it should be made into a normal production bjfe...i cannot think of one way in which to improve this pedal and i am a very picky person...
A simple and useful pedal in and out of studio
ooooo and beautiful finish also!!!!!
