SHOD is here

My SHOD arrived this afternoon (east coast US). I've played it for about 30 min. through a 1965 Deluxe Reverb and a 1959 Magnatone 213, with two different Strats (Lollar Blondes in one, Slider '57s in the other). I'll be in the studio later today trying it with a Tele and '70 Super Reverb. Interesting pedal - not quite like any other OD I've played. Very touch responsive as indicated in the youtube vid. How it cuts the mix on stage remains to be seen but 1st impression leads me to think this one will soon be in rotation with the Klon and Sweetsound Habenero.

Very cool!

thx for sharing! i'm expecting mine to arrive soon. i'd be delighted to hear bout Your impessions with the Super Reverb.
i think it will be THE grab-and-go pedal for people like me who depend on all kinds of backline amps and need some dynamic, sweet and yet defined OD tones.

well i just played mine for about an hour

its actually everything i expected it to be--and expectations were high so that is saying a lot. this is a GREAT overdrive and you can really feel the honey bee influence--but the tone is pure classic rock'n'roll. sounds great all the way around the focus dial, heaps of gain on tap, low gain sparkle but hi-fi clarity, volume knob responsiveness and yes, the dynamics... maybe not QUITE as touch sensitive as the HB but right there, and mind you i've only been playing it an hour.

sounds perfect through my BFSR--and is loving being pushed by my KOT and squashed by the PGC. yep, this is gonna work out just fine i do believe

Some additional comments: I A/Bd the SHOD and a Klon into the Super and did some serious playing. With Telecaster. This particular ’70 SR has been subjected to many of the standard “Blackface” mods and I’ve added a presence control but it remains by design a Funk amp, not a Blues amp – tight and punchy. The SHOD stands up well with the Klon. I was surprised how Klon-like it could be at light OD settings. It’s got a different feel but similar tonality in this application. That’s saying a lot, as the Klon and SR have a remarkable synergy.

My conclusion so far, based, admittedly, on just a few hours of test drive, is the SHOD is great with Fender amps. Seems to have a very organic interaction with the amp that translates to great responsiveness. I’m eager to try it with my AC30 clone and some Marshall types.

ahh thats good news. i was afraid it could push my beloved KOT from the board - but if they find a way to co-exist....hmm nice. but then i bet it'll sound great when pushed by BBOD or DRD as well. and i want to limit myself to 3 dirtboxes. tough decisions ahead :?

three dirtboxes is the perfect number........the holy trinity of dirt pedals!

for me, it's SWF, LGW, and hopefully either a SHOD, SYOD, or BBOD......one of those will do it! or maybe a honeybee 8)

I´ve had my SHOD for a couple of days now and I´m really diggin´this pedal a lot!
Beeing a bit of a "pedal freak" (not the only one here, that´s for sure  ) I´ve become really picky when it comes to stompboxes, and rarely do I get impressed.
With the SHOD I´m amazed how "natural" and "organic" it is in both sound and feel. Engaging the pedal gives you the impression that the guitar and amp now are even more integrated in some strange way.
Very nice indeed :D

The latest quest in my (eternal) search for the perfect tone has been hunting down "transparent pedals", as I don´t want my basic tone to be colored by the stompbox, but I must say that the frequencies added by the SHOD are the right ones 8)

When it comes to stacking we all know that the HB works well after the DRD but I prefer the SHOD before it.

I´m very happy with this buy and the Sweet Honey Overdrive will most definitely be a keeper! Forever!!!!

ps I´ve used the pedal with different amps ranging from super clean Hiwatts to heavily compressed EL84 amps, and the SHOD shines with each and everyone of them. ds
