BJFE stacks

I have a BBOD, DRD, HBOD, MRD, LGW(MP) and an SBEQ..... Any experience stacking with these combinations? What did it sound like?

Read this (Pedalstackers Guide) for some conceptual framework, and then start experiementing .....
trying the HB before and after all pedals
maybe put the BBOD first ,,, it doesnt always like to be driven much harder....

but every combination and position shift has new possibilities......


Maybe start with what YOU want to hear and see if you can find it.....

I've followed this forum for months, though this is my first post. I've read the Pedal Stacker Guide. I understand your concept of "building blocks that recreate something that an amplifier does"(and I'm a layman so huge kudos to you and Bjorn for makin' it plain). I've tried the HBOD before my LGW. It sounded good. Then I tried it after the LGW and it SMOKED(IMHO). I just got the DRD and found the HBOD after it sounds killer!! My BBOD is has low impedance output, hence sounding pretting good anywhere in the chain. I actually use it to drive my MRD for the "Hero" tone that Bjorn refers to.

I think BJF's are the best pedals period. Evidence of this is that after a potential Klon-buyer played a Klon a I had for sale, he saw/played my BBOD(which eventually replaced the Klon, though a different "animal") and asked if he could buy the BBOD instead of the Klon. Imagine that...... Someone wanting a Klon and then hearing a BBOD and changing their mind, on the spot. That's how good the BJF line is.

Anyway, I'm just looking for some advice from other forum members who've gigged with different combinations of pedals and amps. I'd like to know what combos they used, with any of the afformentioned pedals. I've got a gig coming up with Gordon Sumner and like to get some feedback before I experiment.

For my pedalboards, everything is built around my BJF's.

ah ok, well youve hit some of the good tones already .....

there is a really great touch sensitive tone that is really the best Dumblish sound Ive heard that might work well for that gig - run the BBod with the drive on about 10 into the LGW about the same and finish it off with the SBEQ to taste --- will give a tasty singing but still touch sensitive/expressive sound ....

think BBOD preamp > LGW poweramp > SBEQ speaker sim

and if you want to add something a Pine Green comp into the SBEQ is thee killer clean sound for me and it would fit nicely between BBOD and LGW in this sitch..........enjoy!!

Im sure some others have some other secret recipes to share.....

the coolest stacks i have found for myself:

BBOD>LGW. just like Donner said! great. i used this a lot as my two-pedals-to-go-rig.

BBOD>DRD. i think this is close to BBOD>MRD. ridiculous-over-the-top-solo sound.

for warm sounding amps like my prosonic, RRB after either HBOD ord DRD is killer, gives them more sparkle and definition.

DRD>HBOD isnt news to You obviously:-) this is a killer stack!

this is not BJFE, but just saying if You own one by chance, BBOD driving a COT50 is one of the coolest lead sounds i've come across!

it's not BJFE content, maybe i shouldnt have posted it anyway COT is short for Church Of Tone. nice pedal, it's modeled to sound like a plexi marshall.

The winning combos for me are HB > SWF, HB > Model H and Minivibe > anything. I also like LGW > HB

Ah yes I have used all of these and here are some stacks I have used.
And this sequence is implied: guitar>effect>effect>amplifier

HBOD>BBOD ( Volume of HBOD needs to be unity not to overload BBOD)

BBOD>DRD gives a high gain sound ( drive and distortion levels give clearest results at below noon to noon)

DRD>SBEQ I have used on many Fenderamps SBEQ just removes some things I don't want to hear

HBOD>DRD is one stack I use on MP CS-40

DRD or BBOD>HBOD I have used on some amps

BBOD>LGW gives a smooth sound shall we say expensive

LGW>MRD gives a tight high gain sound that plas swiftly for lack of better description ( Drive and Dist levels prefered at noon and then noise is low too comparitively to the amount of gain.

LGW>DRD gives a defined high gain sound

DRD>LGW is useful when a midhump is needed to project sound

MRD > Blackface fenders.........woohoo

I have used PGC in conjuction with all of these, while lately I have shifted to an FGC and used that in sustain mode.

Usually I'd try to get a dynamic sound even if gain levels are high- this is ofcourse mostly useful if it fits playingstyle.

Funny thing here is that using playing dynamics is something I learnt from playing in a punkband at noisy clubs and then changing distortionlevels at about the same volume just by hand is useful to project - the rest of projection is frequencycontent related.
