Second Time Around?

I'm currently getting very intimate with a CAF and HBOD, both of which are second time around BJFE pedals for me, that is I've owned them before and foolishly parted with them. Making clips of pedals is like keeping pictures of ex-girlfriends, it makes you yearn for something that isn't yours any more. Thankfully you can buy back pedals much easier than ex-girlfriends!

Of course I'm wondering why the hell I ever parted with either of these in the first place. HBOD's graceful response and dynamics are of very well documented, but the CAF has totally blown me away all over again. I just spin the Nature knob a little and, like some kind of "Wheel of Fuzz Fortune" device, it lands on one of a half dozen phenomenal fuzz tones. Each one of which can be fine tuned at the pedal or guitar for several more shades of filth.

Previous ownership has enabled me to get a handle on these pedals immediately. I feel like I called two of the ex-girlfriends whose pictures I found and they both came over for a party! Already knowing which buttons to push and knobs to turn made things very smooth indeed. I would have posted some clips with this, but for incorrectly setting my Zoom recorder and ending up with an hour of nasty mic clipping.

So, your second time around BJFEs please?

Great thread Graham!

I regret selling my baby blue but haven't bought another one....... yet.

I sold my snow white fuzz and regretted that too not long after. However, I recently traded my rebel red (a mid heavy dyna red) with Bjorn who made a snow white with some extra gain on tap. Its very like my old one but has more spit and hair available. Absolutely love it and am very grateful to Bjorn. I now have a fantastic range of sounds available with the snow white, model H and HBOD singly and combined. They all stack together really well.

The mighty copper is still well appreciated mate and is still there despite financial pressures!

Cheers

Sean

i can easily see myself having a second go-round with the CAF....it is a completely amazing fuzz, and that nature knob takes you to a LOT of places!

i have gone around TWICE with the EGDM, and still think i may do that again....maybe third time is the charm?

i still want to have the FIRST time with the BBOD.....got to use one for a couple of days and really liked it.

I know just what you mean. When I heard that album for the first time, after getting into The F'lips when Yoshimi came out, I couldn't believe I'd missed out on years of listening to it already! Since then I've worked my way back and caught a couple of live shows, which has served only to reaffirm my love of those guys. If I was going to die tomorrow and could catch one last show or listen to one final album, F'lips and TSB would be it, without hesitation. 8)

That's a pair of brilliant, brilliant records - SB and Yoshimi, and I'm leaning towards SB as my favourite as well.

Then again...

Well I've had 3 BBOD's... just an awesome pedal. But each time I was looking for a bit more attitude, so I ended up going with the Dyna Red instead. Still, the BBOD is just an amazing OD, especially for blues. I've also had 2 HBOD's. The 2nd time around I appreciated it a lot more and really got some great sounds out of it. Kind of miss it still.
