Hey guys, so I was playing around with my Dyna Red today with my strat, and just for fun set the gain all the way off.
Then I turned the treble up to about 2:00, and bumped the volume up a bit. Wow!! Awesome "edge of breakup" sound. I actually A/B'ed it next to one of my Timmy's, and it is definitely a contender. Not as transparent or EQ'able, but it has it's own warmth that the Timmy doesn't have.
Does anyone use their Dyna Red for this?
Mine may sound different at low gain because it's a tweaked version, but I assume the regular version would sound very similar?
Here's a clip I did just going through the paces on my Strat. I actually didn't stumble on the best low gain sound (treble up) until after I recorded this... and it's too late to go record it now.
BUT, I'll record something tomorrow with it at low gain and the Treble tweaked. In the meantime, here's a comprehensive:
MP FGC (sometimes) > Dyna Red > Hardwire DL-8 > Traynor YCV40
(Lower gain sounds at about 6:20)

Oh, and excuse the crappy playing!! I kind of just played whatever came to my mind... and it shows.
