THATS why your EGDM was raging so hard. i had only heard one at 9v. remember i asked why yours had such greater gain and output?

18v.

NOW i know 8)

Thanks for sharing Newark and Slim! I really couldn't believe it when I heard DocRock's. One more tonal variant to consider. :)

the EGDM *definitely* loves 18v. I shoulda mentioned it, I thought you knew

The SBEQ gives you a little more headroom but I don't think the difference is quite as dramatic there as you'd expect. Same for the PGC but honestly I'm still just now getting to know the nuances of the PGC since I finally have an amp that will let you hear them. but it ROCKS with the EGDM, and the SWF for sure.

Hmm... (off to check what a HBDLX can take...)

hmm, sounds like I need something more than 9v for my EGDM. Which power supply would you all recommend, the power brick or the PP2?

I think the HB likes a lower voltage to really get that sag going on.

I have both a PP2+ and a DC Brick mounted under my main board. The DC brick is nice since it has the 3 dedicated 18v outs, to get 18v with the PP2+ you have to get a special Y cable and use 2 of the slots--not very practical unless you're only running a few pedals and only want to run 1 at 18v. The PP2+ is better in almost every other area, mainly by having isolated outputs for each plug, while the DC brick is really just a big daisy chain in a box. The PP2+ can also run a pedal at 24v with a special Y cable, awesome if you have 24v effects like an EHX DMM. Plus it has the 2 reversed polarity outputs for line6 & other center positive pedals. I really like having both of them, gives me lots of versatility.

speaking of, uhh, versatility though, voodoo labs just revealed their newest power supply at NAMM, the Versa. I'm not sure about all the details on it but I'll probably get one of those--I think it has all the features of the PP2+ with more outputs and possibly more ways to change voltages without the need for special cables. that'd be great.

You may be interested in this detailed review I did of the SWF in August 2008 where I did a comparison of the SWF on 9v and then 18v. 18v really did wonders for the SWF.
