Snow White Fuzz on 18V -- BAM!!!!

DocRock came over a while back and let me play through his rig. (One HECK of a rig by the way!!!). One thing that blew my mind was how freaking amazing his Snow White Fuzz sounds at 18V. I'm talking FREAKING AMAZING! Now, I can't NOT play it at 18V. 9V just pales in comparison. Seriously, for those of you who have the Snow White, try it at 18V and get ready for an annointment of fuzz glory upside your head.

Switch up to 18V is like taking the Snow White's engine from a 4-banger to a V8.

As a side note: Doc has a Menatone Working Man's Blue and I have to say, it might be the best value in all the known tone world. Doc can correct me if I'm worng, but I think they go for around $125 or so. It wails. Warren Haynes in a little box.

Haha, yes that was a fun day for sure!!! 18 volts is the way to go on the SWF / AWF ... I wish I could take the credit, but BJ is the one who told me to try it first.

That Menatone I have is a Blue Collar, actually. I have the newest version that Brian Mena started putting out in about 2006 or so. They are about $190 new, $125 or so secondhand. Yes, best value in the biz for sure. Great on its own, *legendary* as a stacker. Blue Collar > Model H is pretty much all I need for OD and distortion textures. Model H on its own for classic distortion, Blue Collar on its own for classic OD. Stacked takes it over-the-top for soloing. The BC has a very unique thickness and haziness in the mid-range that is very peculiar. I've not heard it in any other pedal I've tried. It's great on its own, but stacks extremely well with the BJF stuff.

Yes tho I dont have any anymore, If there were no BJFs in the world alot of my board would be Menas...

the Working Mans Blue - Red Snapper/Blue Collar and Kar Krash would do just fine....

18v is how i run mine and yes it is incredible

sorry to fan the flames on one of the customshop models but the SWF is far and away my favorite BJF fuzz!!

(until we get a bj-built muff, that is )

btw--i've been looking at the menatone blue collar OD, you guys would recommend it ehh?

I love it ... but again, it depends what type of sound you're after. I play a Les Paul into a Carr Rambler 1x15 (at 14 watts/triode) and the Menatone Blue Collar is a very thick, hazy, mid-rangey pedal that stacks extremely well with my Model H. But I'm a rock guy and this is what I want.

Just an fyi in case anybody has a Pedal Power -- maybe you guys might already know about this, but you can call up VooDoo Labs and order oddball cables (i.e. 18V). I just got my 18V yesterday and it is really crazy the difference it makes in the SWF. I'm anxious to try it with the other 18V compatible BJFs.

have to agree......newark and i had our pedal boards set up side by side, and his SWF was running at 18v, and mine was 9v.

the difference was IMMEDIATELY apparent.

BIGGER, BOLDER, and LONGER.......it's like VIAGRA for the SWF.

i actually pay pretty close attention to the voltage chart in the other part of the forum and if something can take 18v thats what i'll give it--almost always with pretty dramatic results. running my EGDM, SBEQ and PGC that way right now and it is BUTTAH
