Bjorn told me some funk guitarist said to him the SWAW was "not funky enough" for funk guitar.

I say "bullshit".

the SWAW is funky enough for Brian Stoltz, from the Meters, Neville Brothers, PBS, Bob Dylan, etc....and commonly referred to as the "King of Funk Guitar". He had been using a BOSS FT-2 Dynamic Filter until I turned him on to the SWAW. It kicked the FT-2 off his board as soon as he heard it.

I have to play some funk with one band I play with, and the SWAW is the funkiest, juiciest, fattest sounding auto filter I have ever heard, and I tried a LOT of them. Also important is the small footprint of the pedal. I, and many other guitarists, don't want to waste the space that a Mutron III or something like that would take up.

Heck yeah!!! that sucker is all funked up.

Funk is the first thing I think of when I fire that baby up...it oozes funk!!

years ago i had an old mxr envelope filter which was REALLY funky...hope the SWAW covers that zone.

That's awesome!!!! Stoltz is one of my favorite players!!!! How long ago did he start using the SWAW?

about 2-3 months ago.....i used to do some guitar tech work for him, and totally look up to him as a player, plus my high school and early gigs were all in new orleans, so i have that music in my blood

nice simple board too......most of Brian's sound is in his fingers, his note choices, and his right hand rhythm stuff. one of the best players i have ever heard live, especially when he is with PBS....gotta love George Porter and Russel Batiste. They are all doing the "Jam Cruise" this week, with dozens of jam bands and hundreds of crazy jam band fans. Wish I was on that boat!!!!

The SWAW is definitely on my GAS list. If it can bring me to king of funk, and since I'm already the cardinal of crunk, it's a no brainer.

the SWAW is the fattest, most thick, and funkiest autofilter pedal I have ever tried, and I owned a few over the years.

i think BJ designed the best sounding wah circuit ever, and I would think there may be a market for a Mad Professor or BJF wah pedal, for those that want to use the traditional style pedal. Also, this circuit would probably sound SICK used ala Michael Schenker with the cocked wah setting -- or maybe a mod to the SWAW that allows one to preset a wah frequency that stays static for that effect. hmmm......

a cool BJF wah would be quite welcome, i would think.

i saw scofield with the piety street band (John cleary, George Porter, Richie Fatar) a while ago and he had a coool auto wah thing goin on some tunes. that made me go out and get one-and get the best
and what can i say....this unit exceeds my expectations by far!!!
yes it can do the mxr envelope filter thang (i sold my beloved mxr some years ago) , but a lot more!!!! i couldnt stop playing for about 2 hours this afternoon. the variety of sounds this unit offers is incredible, the way You can tweek the frequencies and the decay. and running it into an overdrive...wow!!! very wah-like, vocal sound.
it sounds much bigger than some envelope filters i've tried. some of them, while great, have a thin, fizzy thing going. but this baby is warm and smooth! its the first pedal purchase for me in a long time that WASNT a dirt pedal and i'm glad i did it. while it won't replace my regular wah, it will find a permanent place on my board.

no you don't. i can't even imagine being packed in so tightly with that many completely drugged out people. i have enough experience with the "jamband" scene to know that jam cruise would be pretty close to my idea of hell. haha.

it is amazing, great sounding, quite versatile, and truly the fattest sounding filter i have personally heard for guitar.

perhaps the extra controls seem to intimidate some, but for me, it just makes it that much more fun, to be able to tweak it.

AND YOU MUST LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR GUITAR VOLUME CONTROL to use this pedal effectively, as one TGPer recently learned.

the SWAW is very controllable, but you must use your own playing dynamics and your guitar volume to do so.

i recommend it with no hesitations!
