First impressions yesterday were alright, but I wasn't too impressed. today I tried using my 2x12 cabinet instead of my 2x10, and started figuring out more what the different knobs did, and it's a whole different ball game. This thing is absolutely incredible, and can get so many different sounds. This box is absolutely a winner, and probably my favorite bjf/mad professor pedal I've tried out to date.

funny how the 'deeper' boxes can take a while to get the hang of, I wonder if a person trying this one in a store would 'get it' without some help .......

Fairly good question. I was left underwhelmed by it yesterday, but once I got accustomed to the controls things really started working well for me. Definitely a winner. A little side note, a long time ago, when I was looking at the custom shop route, you pointed the soon to be arriving sky blue overdrive out to me when I was looking for recommendations based on the kinds of sounds I was wanting. Took me a while to finally try one out, but it really did work out well for me.

you are VERY correct. i have only had the chance to play with the aqua marine wonder machine, which is the BJF version of the MP Sky Blue OD.

it is NOT a "plug and play" box like the little green wonder......it takes some tweaking, much like the snow white wah or tiny orange phaser.

but i LOVE the deeper boxes........plenty of room to experiment and find new joys.....

For me, I placed the LGW and Sky Blue together and then went back and forwards between each to hear the differences. Once I did that I kind of got the idea where the Sky Blue fitted and how to use it. Sometimes you need to hear a pedal alongside another to get where it fits. By themselves some "deep" pedals can be underwhelming at first.

Glad it worked out for you and yes there is that learning curve...

I think for the way I use them the SBOD seems to be somewhere in the realms of the LGW and EGDM with a touch of the BBOD

very t rue -- any comparison without context isnt much ood....

its fun to hear a peadl and think what it sounds like to you , and then actually put it next to the pedal a nd see how far off you are....

good excercize for stacks too --- hear a peadl setting ,,, then try and mix a stack until you get close,,, and then see what part your ear actually missed......

So, after playing with this for the past 4 days, I absolutely love it. It is one of the most versatile overdrives I've ever used and can cover so much ground. I've found a nice in between pedal to go with my other two overdrives.

Next up on the list is the forest green comp which I should be getting later in the month. Hopefully it will leave as good of an impression as the sky blue has.
