BJF Pedals + 4x12 speaker cabinets?

My best buddy was over at a TGP'er's house last night to sell him a flanger pedal. While he was there, he noticed that this guy had many BJF pedals. He played through them, most notably the DRD by itself, the DRD stacked with PGC and SBEQ (1987 here we come!), and also the BBOD by itself. This guy was using a Hamer guitar with humbuckers, running into a Tone King Meteor II (set as a clean pedal platform) into a 4x12 speaker cabinet. What my buddy noticed was that this was the some of the best tone he had ever heard, and commented that this was certainly the best he had ever heard from any of the BJF pedals he had tried over the years.
He had been wondering whether Bjorn voices his pedals to work with specifically with 4x12's, or if that was just a coincidence because most things tend to sound bigger and better with that type of speaker configuration. I didn't really have an answer for him, though I do not believe Bjorn has a 4x12 in his workshop.
Anyway, just wondering if anybody on this board does the 4x12 thing and, if so, do you notice that it seems to sound best with this type of configuration (as compared with the 1x12, 2x12, and 4x10 configurations that most of us probably use)?
(Just curious ... I don't actually care how good it sounds ... I'm NEVER using a 4x12 again, not worth the trouble or the potential lumbar disc herniation.)
