My EGDM saga -- and how NOT to ship a BJF pedal -- sigh....

So I have been waiting for this for two weeks.

Bought from ebay seller with nearly 100 feedback.

Emailed him for a WEEK trying to get tracking number.....nothing.

Then finally my mailperson brings me this small, thin package today.

"That can't be the EGDM" I thought, as I carried it inside.

The box was so thin that the knobs were pushing up against the box.

I took pics of the box and of me opening it, so you know that I am telling the real story here.

Then, when I get it unboxed, there is only a little bubble wrap around the pedal, no packing materials on the side of the pedal, so the whole way from California to Floirda the pedal is banging from side to side in the box during transit.

And, as I pick up the pedal, I can hear a parts loose, banging around inside the pedal. Now I have to open it up and see what got shook loose during transit.

I SHOULD return this to the seller.....but he is obviously someone who does not even deserve to own BJF.

I am very surprised at the way this turned out. I would not pack a BOSS pedal this poorly....

I got a Dyna Red from him,it made it to me allright ,but it took forever for him to ship it and it was only wrapped with a single small bubblewrap and peanuts, no box in a oversize shipping box..I see he has another Dyna for sale .

It doesn't look quite that bad - they're not made of glass yer know!

When I received a pedal from Custom Sounds it had some bubble wrap around the actual pedal then it was in its box
and then in a padded bag, that seemed pretty good to me. I don't think there's a need for double boxing.

Was it just the battery clip clicking around inside the EGDM? Of course if it has been damaged then that's a whole
different matter and that guy should have done better. Personally, I would not have shipped it in that box, but would
have used a higher smaller one so I could put bubble wrap all around the actual pedal. I guess it's a bit different when
the pedal is shipped without the original box. Hope your EGDM is working!

No, they are not made of glass for sure :-)

But when the potentiometers/knobs are sticking upwards nearly coming through the box, and for DAYS this box is stacked under all sorts of other mail -- this is not good.

I FINALLY got an email from the seller today, after I made a paypal claim this weekend.

I have not plugged it on or opened it -- but --- it doesn't sound like the battery clip being loose. it sounds like a metal piece floating around in there....

More to come this afternoon.

Proper packing and shipping is ESSENTIAL in today's world. And is the mark of a caring and professional person.

yes, i almost bought that one from him too, but you got it first! 8) 8) 8)

glad it made it to you safely, and it's an awesome pedal i am sure.

he certainly DOES seem to have a few BJF rarities...what is up with that strange paintjob on the DRD he has for sale currently on ebay????

Battery clip was close -- it had broken the top part off, and it was rattling around inside the pedal.

I fixed it, put it all back together, and wrote a pretty detailed shipping report to the seller. He seems like a very honest seller, and I am not gonna give him negative feedback...but he needs to TIGHTEN UP his shipping.

I remember seeing boxes at FEDEX (was doing a P.I. surveillance job) just thrown from trucks onto the ground, treated, VERY VERY badly. When you ship pedals, you must ship them in large enough boxes, AND there must be enough packing material to prevent movement of the pedal inside. Lesson concluded

However....this thing sounds GREAT.......the voice knob is VERRRY important. when i had one of these years ago,, I had no idea what it was, who made it, etc......

but now I will learn of it 8)

#036 has a new home

... glad its alive !! yeah those things are pretty tough..looking forward to hearing how it works for you ... thats a nice early one with the opaque paint... and Im sure youve found the little trimmer access point - if not lift the neoprene in there and you should see a little hole with the trim face - its for treble matching to whatever amp/speakers you use, can be critical for a positive bonding

yes, i found the trimmer, and will adjust it to taste for my soldano.

i don't remember thinking this pedal was this good years ago.

i managed to check my old emails, and found the guy i sold that Danny Spitz (Anthrax) EGDM to back a few years ago......he said he didn't have it anymore. I don't remember what the serial number was, but it said "danny spitz" on the box.

i like playing with the voice knob.....

to the seller's credit, he finally did respond, apologized, and issued me a $20 refund.

i gave him positive feedback on ebay.

and i don't mean to put a bad reputation on him here - i am sure he is to be trusted. and after my several emails detailing how one is to ship a pedal SECURELY, i would think that the next ones will go out packed better.

now...who is gonna jump on that cool DRD with the unusual paintjob....Newark????
