Any BJF Pedals On The Shelf?

Postby Teahead » Wed Jul 02, 2008 8:36 am

No, I'm not looking for "In Stock" BJF's, that be crazy talk. I'm probably talking about something even crazier...

Do any of you have BJF pedals in hibernation? If so, which pedals and why?

I'm considering taking my Tea Green EQ off the board to give me the space and power capacity to try other pedals out, Micro Pog lust! I can live without it live most of the time thanks to the Body control of the PGC and the smoothing Alnicos in the AC30.

I might occasionally tag it onto the end of my chain at home though, to give me control over my pedalboard's volume to the amp. Other than that and some recording duties, it will be in semi-retirement for a while.

This is as much a testament to the PGC as anything detrimental about the SBEQ, but I know that you guys with many, many pedals must have some kind of rotation thing happening. Tell us about it, makes us sick with envy!

I play all my BJFs to some extent, none are sitting in their box, but the ones that see the least action are:

Model R -- While I like this pedal, it is my least favorite BJF distortion --- possibly my least favorite BJF pedal. In terms of my favorite distortions to play, I would say: Cliffhanger, Emerald Green, Dyna Red, Mighty Red, Model H, Model R. Those rankings change a lot based on what music I'm into at the time, but the R is always the last choice. :( They're all great pedals so that's not a put down at all. It's like the 6th man on an all-star team. :)

Purple Plum Phaser -- I just don't use phaser that much right now (I did when I was in a band). The Folk Phaser is a bit more capable of subtlety so I tend to use that one if I use a phaser. The PPP is like a fine spice -- perfect sometimes, but not with every meal.

Saffron Yellow Tremelo -- Again, just don't use much trem, but it's handy when I need it!

Little Red Trebler -- Great little pedal, but I only use it when I need it, and most of the BJF stuff doesn't need it --- it does work well with the Candy Apple and the Snow White though.

I kind of have a modular board that is always changing....

theres the modulation front end (VCF/WAH-MGMV-Trem-Phase)

with distortion/drive/fuzz in the middle and

delay/verb at the end

this also keeps down the number of pedals I can have on at anytime....

I have always tried to keep one of each model on hand to always be able to do comparisons - this was much easier and cheaper to do in 2001-2

nope, none on the shelf, but rotation was out of hand so it got is own board. still rearranging this one all the time,,get lost for hours :D

funny how the R works different for everyone,,,its been on my never leave home without it board for a good while now.
I tried to simply my drives and distortion and overall pedalboard by lugging amps around instead. 8) so this one is mostly modular stuff.

I have a real physical sense of depression when I see BJFE pedals that I cannot buy... So close and yet so far...

Hey Cabo, is that an EGDM next to the MRD?

If it isn't then there might be one BJF that I have that you don't! Oh, and let me tell you, if you don't have an EGDM you are missing out big time!

That board is out of this world, and it's all hooked up and working, seeing that pic has left me breathless and faint!
My humble board is basically SBEQ, PPF, DRD, EGDM and Boss DSD-2 Sampler/Delay. AND, they're not even on a board. I will be adding a phaser at some point though.

That is just the most fantastic board... I can't speak now.

I want to be in cabo's pedal Will.... I don't mind if that means some kind of formal adoption must take place..

Now, according to this forum, Donner has 40+ BJFE pedals. Surely we can hassle Donner to take a single photo that has all the BJFE pedals lined up and connected all at once??? We are waiting :-)

I have a lot of BJF pedals, but I would venture to say the kings of all things BJF are definitely Donner and Cabo. I would also like to be added to the pedal will! :) So many awesome pedals. At least we all have an addiction that's at least somewhat redeemable. :)

Jagattack—yes that is a egdm,,Im not sure what it is ,but thru the same rig,,somedays I love it,,somedays not. Its one I need to go thru again now that I have a more solid guitar/amp base. Yeah its all hooked up,love those flat head connectors,,just about the right amount of buffers in there too.

Mrpicard—we adopt all the time here, although its usually a four legger in need. Not sure I could handle another 2 leg being at this time.. but I can keep you and EJ in mind for the will if you guys include me in yours! :D

EJ—Inspiration indeed, always something new to discover. I know you must have something insane put together as well?
I like to think of the addiction as just a lot of love,,and yes its endless.

Im not sure but I would have to guess Donner has quite a’ gauntlet’ board as well. I would also like to see some current pics if we can pry it out of mr modest.

By the overall interest and the registry it seems there are some others here(i didnt want to call them out) that have quiet a lot of bjfs going on as well,,,maybe we can get some other folks to chime in too,,we would all like to see what been happening. :)
